23 Lakh Applications for NEET UG 2025

The Number of Applications in NEET UG 2025 is 1.5 Lakh Less than Last Year

NEET UG will be conducted by the National Testing Agency on 4 May this year. This year 23 lakh students have filled the application form for NEET UG, which is about 1.5 lakh less than last year (NEET UG 2025).

In 2024, about 24.10 lakh students had registered. Out of these 23 lakh students, some are dummy forms and some have not paid the fees. In such a situation, the number of people appearing for the exam can be up to 22.50 lakh.

How many Medical Seats in the Country?

According to the National Medical Commission, there are a total of 117950 MBBS seats. As per this data, this year there are 19 applicants for one seat. Last year there was competition between 21 students for one seat.

In fact, many irregularities were revealed in the NEET UG Paper last year. Due to questions raised on paper leak, bonus marks, and marking pattern, the matter went to the Supreme Court.

NEET UG 2024 was also conducted again for some students. In view of this, the trust of the students as well as the parents on the examination agency decreased.

Due to this factor probably, fewer students applied for NEET UG 2025. Apart from this, NTA has not extended the last date for NEET UG 2025 application this year.

Cut off was 162 marks in NEET UG 2024

Last year the cut off of NEET UG was 162 marks out of 720 marks. Those aspirants, who scored 162 and above, were called for admission counseling. This year the cut off may be less due to less number of students.

Meanwhile, now the scope of NEET UG has been increased even more as admission will be given on the basis of NEET score in paramedical courses including BSc Nursing in many states.

NEET score is also valid in AIIMS. Admission in BSc Nursing is also based on NEET score.
