According to expert from ALLEN Career Institute, toppers give preference to only top 7 IITs. The main reason for this is that the old 7 IITs have a more competitive environment, due to which students are able to develop themselves in all aspects.
Companies also come in greater numbers for job placements in these IITs as compared to other IITs, which gives opportunities for placement to students from every field.
Also, world’s top MNCs offer packages worth crores to students in these IITs. Apart from this, there are also unlimited possibilities for doing MS abroad from these IITs because the recommendation of the professors here is very important for studying abroad.
Also, there are more possibilities of startups in old IITs, for which funds are also easily available. Apart from this, other students other than toppers also prefer the old top IITs, even if they get lower branches in these IITs. Those students also prefer to go to old IITs instead of new IITs.
