NEET UG 2025: Official Announcement and Key Details
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official public notice regarding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025, which will be conducted on behalf of the National Medical Commission (NMC). This crucial exam is a gateway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical education in India. Here are the key details and updates for NEET UG 2025.
Amidst speculations that NEET UG 2025 could be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that the NEET UG 2025 examination would be held in Pen and Paper Mode. Also, the NEET UG 2025 examination will be held in a single day and single shift.
After the NEET UG 2024 examination last year, apprehensions were being raised over the mode of examination. While the NEET UG 2024 was also conducted in the pen and paper mode but there was hearsay that NEET UG 2025 could be held in CBT mode like JEE. However, now NTA today issued a notification to inform about the NEET UG 2025 Exam mode. The NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in Pen and Paper (OMR) based mode.

Uniformity Across Medical Admissions
As per Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, NEET UG is mandated as a common and uniform entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical education across all medical institutions in India. This includes courses like:
- MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
- BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)
- BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery)
- BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery)
Additionally, as stated in Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, NEET UG will also serve as the entrance test for courses under the Indian System of Medicine, and it will apply to BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) courses under the National Commission for Homeopathy.

Special Provision for MNS Aspirants
For aspirants of the Military Nursing Service (MNS), seeking admission to B.Sc. Nursing courses conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals for the year 2025, NEET UG is also a requirement. The scores obtained in NEET UG will be used for shortlisting candidates for the four-year B.Sc. Nursing program.
