According to the data released after the first round of seat allocation of counseling, this year also the craze for Computer Science, AI, Data Science and MNC branches remains very high among the students. The Computer Science branch of the top IITs remained the first choice of the toppers.
This year the closing AIR of the Computer Science branch from open to gender neutral pool in the top 9 IITs was 1015, in which the most preferred branch was IIT Mumbai Computer Science. All its seats were filled by students taking admission from open to top 66 ranks at the all India level.

Apart from this, if we look at the status of students taking admission in Computer Science branch in all 23 IITs in the first round, then the last admission in this branch was obtained in IIT at 6384 rank from the gender neutral pool through open.
This admission was taken in IIT Bhilai. Also, Computer Science branch was divided in IIT Bhilai at 12211 rank in the female pool quota from the open itself. Along with Computer Science, AI, Data Science and MNC branch were also in the priority of the students. This year, both these branches in the top II also closed with less than 1500 AIR.
How Should Students Decide to Participate in Further Counseling?
Expert told that after the first round seat allocation by JoSAA, category wise opening closing has been released so that students can take appropriate decision to participate in further counseling by understanding the possibilities of getting college branch from their filled college preference list on the basis of those ranks. Students can decide to go to further counseling by choosing the option of freeze, float and slide on the basis of these ranks.
Students should wait for verification status confirmation
Expert told that after completing all three steps for their allotted seat during online reporting in JoSAA counseling, students will have to get their documents verified by JoSAA and wait for seat confirmation because it takes one or two days for the verification status to be completed and the seat to be confirmed. In such a situation, students need not worry; rather they will have to get confirmation of their allotted seat on their candidate portal.
