Such Candidates need to Complete this Important Work by January 7th
As the JEE Main 2026 exam date approaches, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is working to finalize candidate information. In this regard, the NTA has issued an important notice for students who did not apply using their Aadhaar card.
This update is specifically for students who, for some reason, filled their JEE Main forms using a PAN card, passport, or other identity card instead of their Aadhaar card.
Which students received the NTA email?
NTA has notified candidates via email:
- Those whose data could not be synced with Aadhaar.
- Those whose photo was mismatched.
- Those whose name or other details were discrepancies.
- Those whose mobile number was not linked to Aadhaar and whose OTP verification failed.
- Those who intentionally or under duress applied with a non-Aadhaar document.
What is the new directive? (Photo Identity Proof Certificate)
NTA has uploaded a special “Photo Identity Proof Certificate” on the login portal for all such candidates. Candidates must download this certificate and complete the following process:
Step-by-Step Process
- Go to the JEE Main login portal
- Take a printout of the provided certificate
- Affix a recent passport-sized photo
- Fill in all details carefully
- Have the certificate verified by the principal of the school from which you passed or are pursuing 12th grade
- Principal’s signature
- School’s official seal is mandatory
- Then, upload the same certificate again to the login portal
Last Date: January 7, 2026
- NTA has given time until January 7, 2026 to complete this process.
- If a candidate fails to upload the certificate by this date, their application may be affected.
- This certificate will also be required at the examination centre
NTA’s indications make it clear that:
Students who have applied using a non-Aadhaar identity card may also be required to bring this verified certificate to the examination centre. This clearly indicates that this time, Aadhaar-based identification is being given special importance. Exam City Intimation Slip may be available on January 8th.
Since this process ends on January 7th, it is likely that:
On January 8th, 2026, candidates will be issued an Advance Exam City Intimation Slip.
This will contain the following information:
- Exam City
- Exam Date
- Shift (Morning/Evening)
Important Advice for Students
If you have:
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Filled the JEE Main form with another ID
Immediately:
- Check your email
- Download the certificate from the JEE Main login portal
- Get it verified from your school principal
- Be sure to upload it before January 7th
This new update issued by the NTA is extremely important for thousands of students. Failure to upload the certificate on time could lead to problems appearing for the exam. So complete this process without delay and keep an eye on the official NTA website for further updates.
