After JoSAA, Now it’s Time for CSAB Counselling

Engineering Admission Process Reaches a Crucial Juncture

JoSAA counselling 2025 is now in its final stage, with the sixth round of online reporting ended on July 22. The next crucial stage is the CSAB Special Round Counselling, which gives students another opportunity—either to improve their existing seat or get a new preferred branch or college.

Who Should Retain the Seat?

Who are the students who can participate in CSAB?

  1. Those who were allotted IIT but are not satisfied.
  2. Those who filled wrong preferences in JoSAA by mistake.
  3. Those who got seat in NIT, IIIT, GFTI and want upgradation.
  4. Students who did not get any seat in JoSAA counseling.
  5. Those whose board eligibility criteria is now fulfilled.

CSAB counseling is a Golden Opportunity for all these students.

Why is CSAB Counselling more Technical and Challenging?

  • In CSAB counselling you have to carefully put all the branches and colleges in preference order, because:
  • Now you will have only one chance.
  • If the seat is allotted and you do not join, the fee of ₹75,000 will not be refunded.
  • If you leave the seat allotted in JoSAA, then that seat will not be refunded, unless you secure it by filling PAF.

Important Numbers and Figures:

  • More than 2.1 lakh students participated in JoSAA.
  • Around 62,853 seats were filled.
  • About 18,000 students got seats in IIT.
  • An estimated 1.7 lakh students will now participate in CSAB.

Among these, there are about 45,000 students who got seats in NIT/IIIT/GFTI and want upgradation.

Retain Seat or Not – How to Decide?

  • If you are satisfied with the seat you got from JoSAA, then retain it and also appear in CSAB.
  • If you are not satisfied, you can still appear in CSAB without filling PAF.
  • But if you do not fill PAF and do not get a seat in CSAB, then you will have no option left.

How to Make College-Preference in CSAB?

  • Fill each preference by comparing it with the seat you got in JoSAA.
  • Fill only those branches which you really want to take.
  • Because whatever seat you get in CSAB, you will have to compulsorily accept it.

When will NIT/IIIT Reporting Happen?

  • NIT/IIIT physical reporting will happen in the last week of August.
  • The reporting process will start only after the CSAB rounds are over.
  • Now only PAF has to be filled, not reporting.

Advantages of CSAB Counseling:

  • Another chance for students who are not satisfied with the seat in JoSAA or have not got a seat.
  • Opportunity for upgradation for students who want to change branch.
  • Freedom to fill all branches and colleges again.

Final Advice:

  • CSAB counseling is a technical and strategic process.
  • Every student should start making their preference order from now, do not wait for July 30.
  • 99.9% of students should participate in CSAB counselling after JoSAA, as it has only benefits and no disadvantages.

Important Dates:

  • Partial Admission Fee Submission Date: 23rd to 27th July
  • Reporting (NIT/IIIT): From last week of August

CSAB counselling is a golden opportunity for all those students who have not yet found their desired college or branch. If the preference order is decided with the right strategy, it is completely possible to get a better college and branch. But every decision must be taken thoughtfully and on time.

Your Next Step:

Don’t delay now. Plan your CSAB counselling preference and partial admission fee.

Good luck! One more step towards your success
