Continuing their tradition of consistently excellent performance in national and international Olympiads, ALLEN students have achieved outstanding success at the 4th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics for Junior 2025 (IOAA Junior).

The ALLEN Career Institute, President, Vinod Kumawat, informed that in this prestigious competition, ALLEN’s regular classroom students, Aaron Thakkar, won the Gold Medal, and Swara Patel secured the Silver Medal. This achievement is not only a matter of pride for the institute but also an inspiration for students across the country.

Outstanding Achievement by Indian Students at the International Level

The IOAA Junior 2025 was held in Romania from October 18 to 25. Talented students from 23 countries around the world participated in this competition. Each participant had to undergo various stages of examinations based on in-depth concepts related to astronomy and astrophysics.

Before the competition, an Orientation-cum-Selection Camp (OCSC) was held in India at the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata (BITM). 19 selected students from across the country participated in this camp, many of whom were from the ALLEN Institute.

The Result of the Selection Process and Hard Work

In the OCSC camp, students were evaluated through written examinations, practical examinations, and interviews. Based on their outstanding performance in these examinations, the Indian team was selected. The team comprised three students, two of whom were from the ALLEN Institute.

When the results were announced at the international competition, ALLEN students Aaron Thakkar and Swara Patel captivated everyone with their exceptional performance. Aaron secured the gold medal, propelling India to the top position, while Swara won the silver medal, bringing glory to the nation.

Aim to Foster Interest in Space Science

The main objective of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics for Juniors (IOAA Junior) is to cultivate interest in space science, astronomy, and astrophysics among school students. This competition is organized for students up to Class 10, aiming to inspire them towards scientific thinking and research from a young age.

This Olympiad provides students with practical experience through the principles of astronomy, the motion of stars and planets, the structure of the solar system, and various physics experiments. Such events not only develop a scientific perspective in students but also encourage them to pursue research in the future.
