CBSE has stated that practical exams, project and internal assessments for both classes will take place from Jan 1 to Feb 14, 2026
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a detailed notification regarding the 2026 board exams for Class 10 and Class 12.
This notification clearly details the distribution of marks for theory, practical, project, and internal assessment for all subjects. The schedule for practical exams and internal assessments has also been announced, which all affiliated schools must follow.
The CBSE has stated that practical exams, project evaluations, and internal assessments for both Class 10 and Class 12 will begin on January 1, 2026, and continue until February 14, 2026.
The Board has directed all schools to complete all assessment work within this timeframe to avoid any delays in students’ exam schedules. Completing evaluations on time not only facilitates the board’s preparation for results but also provides clarity to students in their exam preparation.
CBSE has released the subject-wise mark distribution list on its official website, detailing how many marks are allocated for theory and how many for practical or project work in each subject of 100 marks.
This list includes the class, subject code, marking pattern, and all necessary instructions related to evaluation. Students, teachers, and parents can easily access these details by visiting the website.
The board also mentioned in the notice that sometimes schools make mistakes while uploading practical, project, or internal assessment marks, which require corrections later.
To avoid such problems, CBSE has attached a complete list of all subjects for both classes to the notification. The Board has advised schools to carefully read all instructions before uploading marks and ensure no errors. This ensures a transparent and smooth evaluation process.
CBSE has also shared information regarding the type of answer sheets that will be used for the 2026 theory exams and how many pages they will contain.
Schools have been asked to prepare in advance to avoid any disruptions or shortages during the exams. The Board aims to conduct exams in a uniform, safe, and orderly manner across the country.
The notification urges all schools to complete all practical and internal assessments within the stipulated dates and to ensure that the teachers conducting the assessments adhere to the guidelines issued by the Board.
Timely completion of evaluation is a crucial part of conducting board exams, as it ensures a smooth and orderly process from conducting theory exams to evaluating answer sheets and preparing results.
Students often struggle to understand how many marks are assigned to theory and practicals in each subject. This notification issued by CBSE is extremely useful for students as it allows them to prioritize subjects according to their preparation.
Accurate evaluation of practical and project work plays a crucial role in exam results, so students should also ensure they complete their practical and project work on time and take the internal assessment conducted by their schools seriously.
This notification issued by CBSE regarding the 2026 board exams is important for students, teachers, and schools alike. A clear timetable, information regarding mark distribution and the evaluation process makes exam preparation more organized. The Board has placed special emphasis on transparency, timeliness, and error-free evaluation in its instructions.
Such guidelines ensure that board examinations are conducted in a smooth, fair, and orderly manner. Students and teachers can improve their preparation by studying the materials available on the official website.
