According to an expert from ALLEN Career Institute, students who wish to apply for improvement must do so online through the private candidate login on the CBSE website. If a student wants to improve marks in all five subjects, the fee is ₹1500. For improvement in one or more subjects, the fee is ₹300 per subject.
As per the notification issued by CBSE, these students’ exams will be conducted along with the main exams proposed for February, March, and April 2025.

The expert mentioned that every year, the highest number of students appearing for JEE Advanced and JEE Main are from the CBSE board. In recent years, from 2020 to 2022, there was a relaxation in board marks eligibility for admission to IITs-NITs.
However, from last year (2023), the board eligibility requirement has been reinstated, requiring students to have either a top-20 percentile or 75% marks in their 12th board exams. It is expected that this eligibility criterion will also be applied for admission to IITs and NITs in 2025.
Therefore, students who have not met this board eligibility requirement will need to apply for board improvement within the given timeframe. As a result, the number of students applying for board improvement this year is expected to increase.
Last year, many students missed the improvement application due to confusion and were deprived of admission to IITs and NITs despite having good ranks in JEE Advanced and JEE Main.
