Five Members Included, Representatives from three IITs and two NITs
The Education Ministry of Government of India has reconstituted the committee for JoSAA counselling, which is conducted for the admission process to IITs and NITs after the country’s most prestigious engineering entrance exam JEE-Advanced. This time, members from 4 IITs and one NIT have been included as representatives in this committee.
Allen Career Counseling Expert said that every year a committee is formed to ensure that the JoSAA counselling process for admission to IIT-NIT is completed as per the prescribed rules.
This year, representatives from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and NIT Rourkela and NIT Suratkal have been included in it.
It is worth mentioning that this year the JEE-Advanced exam is being organized by IIT Kanpur. In such a situation, IIT Kanpur will have full rights for admission in IITs during counselling.
IIT Kanpur will coordinate with Joint Seat Allocation Board (JAB) for conducting counselling, and NIT Rourkela, on behalf of NIT & IIIT, will coordinate with Central Seat Allocation Board for conducting counselling.
This year also, as per the information received so far, joint counseling will be conducted for admission in IIT-NIT. In such a situation, admission eligibility in IIT-NIT remains the same if there is common counselling, but NIT has ensured the board eligibility to be 75 percent or top-20 percentile in the information bulletin of JEE-Main.
But IIT has still not released the board eligibility for admission in IIT on the website. In such a situation, there is confusion as to whether despite common counselling, the board eligibility, for admission to IIT NIT will be different or will remain the same.
