Aspirants Who Passed Class 12 in 2021 Will Not Get a Chance to Take JEE Advanced 2023

The IIT Guwahati, the organizing IIT for the JEE Advanced 2023, has issued FAQs for the JEE Advanced 2023 for the aid of the students. Some important information has been given regarding the students appearing in this examination. Career Counseling Expert of ALLEN Career Institute Amit Ahuja said that answers to many questions related to taking the exam came out in the FAQ.
Students who have passed 12th in the year 2021, irrespective of taking JEE-Advanced in the respective years 2021 and 2022, will not be considered eligible to appear for JEE-Advanced this year. According to the last two years, there will be no additional chance to take JEE-Advanced.
Such students, who have passed the 12th examination for the first time and are appearing in the 12th examination in the year 2023, only they will be eligible to take the examination. Such students who have scored less than 75 percent or top-20 percentile in the 12th board will have to give an improvement test in one or more subjects to get 75 percent marks. On the contrary, students will have to take improvement exam in all the subjects to get into the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
Admit Card Will Come After JEE-Main Exam City & Exam Date
The country’s biggest engineering entrance exam, JEE-Main will be conducted from January 24 to 31 in 14 shifts. Students are waiting for the admit cards of the JEE-Main exam. Before this, students were allowed to rectify the errors made in the application. According to the information issued in the information bulletin, the students will be informed about the exam city and date before the admit cards. In the next day or two, this information will be issued to the students on the website of JEE-Main. After this, the admit cards of the students will be issued. Last year also, the admit cards were given two days before the examination. On getting the information about the exam city and date, students can make travel arrangements according to their allotted exam slot.
Maharashtra Board Released Top-20 Percentile
After the amendment in 12th board eligibility for admission in IIT, NIT, and IIIT, the state boards of the country have started issuing top-20 percentile. In this, Maharashtra Board has released the top-20 percentile first. According to the data released on the website, the cut-off for the general category is 78.20 percent, OBC is 79.40, ST and SC is 75.40 percent. Students of other boards of the country are also waiting for the top-20 percentile since those who do not have 75 percent marks in 12th and are on edge, then their confusion will be removed only when the top 20 percentile of their boards is released. It is noteworthy that till 2019, there were many boards whose board eligibility percentage used to be less than 75 percent. In such a situation, the students are now waiting for the top 20 percentile.

The criteria for Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) will be as per the current notification of Government of India under OBC-NCL category.

Scribe (Amanuensis) helps the candidate only for reading the question and/or keying in the answers as per the directions of the candidate. A scribe will NEITHER explain the question NOR suggest a solution.
A “person with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than 40% of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authorities (section 2(r), RPwD act 2016).

The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks of the candidates (and also the cut‐off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion).

If a candidate had appeared his/her Class XII (or equivalent) in 2022 and wishes to improve his/her aggregate marks to meet the “aggregate marks of 75% (or 65% for SC, ST and PwD) criterion”, she/he can reappear for any number of subjects she/he wishes for improvement. The percentage marks in this situation will be calculated by considering the marks obtained in 2022 or 2023, whichever is higher, in the respective subjects, in her/his two attempts in 2022 and 2023.
Candidates who appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2022 and wish to (or have to) reappear in 2023 with objective to qualify through top 20 percentile cut-off criteria, MUST reappear in all the subjects. For such candidates, top 20 percentile cut-off for 2023 will be considered.
NO. If you have not filled in your course choices by the deadline (last date for choice filling), then you will NOT be considered for admission to any program in IITs.
All candidates who have qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2023 MUST register on Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2023 website and also MUST fill in their course choices within the prescribed time frame in order to be eligible for admission to IITs. If any JEE (Advanced) 2023 qualified candidate has NOT done the same, then the candidate will NOT be considered for admission to any program in IITs.
All JEE (Advanced) 2023 qualified candidates MUST register with Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2023 and fill in all possible course choices in order of preference to be eligible for admission to IITs.
If the JEE (Advanced) 2023 aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks:
Step 1: Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded higher rank. If the tie breaking criterion at Step 1 fails to break the tie, then the following criterion at Step 2 will be followed.
Step 2: Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.
The responses of all the candidates who have appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2, recorded during the exam, along with the questions of each paper, will be available for downloading from the candidate portal whose link will be made available on the JEE (Advanced) 2023 website after the examination.
Yes, you will be given a “Scribble Pad” (containing blank sheets, for rough work) at the start of every paper of JEE (Advanced) 2023. You can do all your calculations inside this “Scribble Pad”. You will need to bring your own pen/pencil.
YES. Questions will be displayed on the screen in the default language (English or Hindi), chosen by the candidate. Further, the candidate can also switch/toggle between English and Hindi languages, as the viewing language for any question, anytime during the entire period of the examination. The candidate will also have the option of changing the default QUESTION viewing language anytime during the examination.
NO. There is no need to indicate QUESTION paper language at the time of JEE (Advanced) 2023 registration. Candidates will have the option to choose their preferred language (English or Hindi), as the default language for viewing the questions, at the start of the Computer Based Test (CBT) examination of JEE (Advanced) 2023.
NO. Your result will neither be prepared nor be declared. It is compulsory to appear for both the papers.
Yes, writing both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are compulsory in JEE (Advanced) 2023.
Not all defence service personnel’s children are eligible for DS category seats. DS category seats are earmarked for children of defence / paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations. A certificate (format provided in Annexure II: Form DS in the Information Brochure as per Ministry of Defence, GoI guideline), issued by respective record offices of Armed Forces Personnel is required to be eligible for belonging to DS category.

The services of a scribe (amanuensis) are available ONLY to PwD candidates with benchmark disabilities those who are visually impaired OR dyslexic (severe) OR have disability in the upper limbs or have lost fingers / hands thereby preventing them from properly operating the Computer Based Test platform as per office memorandum of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment F.No. 34-02/2015-DD-III dated August 29, 2018. Candidates who need the services of a scribe are required to make a request during the registration process of JEE (Advanced) 2023 (refer Clause14.
