JEE Main 2025 January Session Examination will Commence from 22 Jan
The JEE Main is the most competitive engineering entrance exam in India and one of the major factors of success. It depends on how fast you can solve problems with precision in the shortest time possible. Therefore, getting a good rank is very tough in these exams without increasing your problem-solving speed given the short time allotted for each section. Accuracy cannot be compromised by the costs of speed.
Here in this blog, we shall be talking about best practices and techniques with which you may enhance your performance to problem-solve in respect of JEE Main 2025.
The JEE Main exam is one where you will come across multiple-choice questions and a timeframe. You are expected to answer 90 questions in 3 hours, which gives you approximately two minutes for every question on average. Of course, some questions will be easier and some will be tougher.
In case you do not solve questions fast, and correctly you will not be able to complete the exam which would have a bad impact on your score. Improving the speed at which you solve problems benefits you with the answer of solving more questions and therefore improving your rank. Practice Techniques for Quick and Mistake-Free Solutions of Problems.
First of all, even before you try to increase your speed, ensure that your concepts are clear. Speed is confidence and confidence comes from good understanding of fundamentals. After all the concepts are clear, problems start to solve fast as you can easily identify the patterns and formula application will come like instinct.
The best method to improve speed is solving the previous yearsâ JEE Main papers. You get an idea of the format, come to know the types of questions that are going to recur time and again, and understand the difficulty level one needs to achieve in cracking a particular section of the paper.
Solve at least 1-2 papers every week. Strictly time your attempts. Always check your answers carefully and correct any error you may have made in the paper after solving. This will make you solve problems much faster as you get used to the pattern of questions and the time limit you are likely to face.
This added the most importance in increasing speed in preparation- the purpose of mock tests is not just to attempt, but track time taken for each section and for individual questions. A few tips on mock tests: Practice untimed at first: one will be able to practice with no time constraint tied to it.
One will become exposed to the type of questions that one might expect in your test. Building on time limitation: One continues doing this kind of practicing with a part of it coming as time-limited wherein an initial limited portion of questions are timed as time goes by.
Pressure test: Revise with mock test on real time table prescribed by JEE Main â the entire 3-hour test and complete 90 questions. Spontaneous revision of self- analysis: Expose yourself to this question pattern only after every one attempt of such full-length tests, for instance. By taking numerous mock tests, you will get well accustomed to high pressure and rush to solve more in the same amount of time.
To speed up the process of answering the questions, learn some shortcuts and tricks about mathematics and mental calculations. Physics-Learn to make quick estimates of values without the use of a calculator. This may include gravitational force or speed. For Mathematics, learn shortcut formulas and techniques for quicker calculations (such as using the formula for area of a triangle, properties of logarithms, etc.).Apply estimation methods as frequently as possible especially when a question asks for an estimate. All these shortcuts will enable you to spend less time on questions that would have taken you much longer.
Speed calculations are mental arithmetic and quick application of standard formulas. Arithmetic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division should be practiced. You can apply multiplication tables, squares, and cubes for faster mental calculations. Learn shortcuts to performing percentage, ratios, and squaring of number calculations without pen.
During the exam, avoid writing unnecessary steps. Instead, try to perform calculations mentally. For example, when solving an algebraic equation, instead of writing each step, think of how to directly get to the answer. While this may seem difficult at first, with practice, youâll develop the ability to do complex calculations in your head.
As you work through the problems, do not get sidetracked. Every time you become stumped on a problem or attack it in an unnecessarily complicated manner, you waste precious seconds or even minutes. Break down complicated problems into smaller pieces.
Use logic to eliminate obviously wrong answer choices before you go to great lengths to detail your attack for multiple-choice problems. Do not waste your time on a question. If the solution is not readily found, you may leave that question for another day when you are ready.
Practice at this point will focus on speed building with good time management and smart approaches for JEE Main 2025. All concepts with practice with mock tests with shortcut techniques to mental math helps you not just solve faster, but with the right amount of accuracy as well.
Remember, one needs to answer more questions than ever but right, in such a short duration. So all these techniques combined with regular practice will show vast improvement in both speed and accuracy on the actual exam day. Good luck and have fun preparing for JEE Main 2025.
