IIT Kharagpur Offers New Courses: BS Courses With 6 Specialisations

Admission in New Courses Will be Through JEE Score

IIT Kharagpur will begin new courses, which is amazing news for those who want to join the IIT. This year, IIT, the nation’s most esteemed engineering educational institution, may provide more seats. In a tweet, IIT Kharagpur announced the launch of several new programs. The JEE Advanced exam is scheduled to be administered by IIT Guwahati on May 4th this year. After the JEE Main results, its application procedure is anticipated to begin on April 30.

New Courses at IIT Kharagpur

The BS program is available in six specializations: physics, applied geology, economics, exploration geophysics, mathematics and computing, and chemistry, according to Amit Ahuja, a career counseling expert at Allen Career Institute. These courses are all brand-new to MS. By the conclusion of Semester 6 of the four-year BS program, candidates with an interest in acquiring an MS degree would have the option to do so. In the fifth year, students will have the option of pursuing both the BS program and the MS degree.

As a result, MS candidates will be able to get their BS and MS degrees simultaneously and save one year of time. There won’t be an additional test for this. There will be a rise in MS seats in such a scenario.

Seats in IITs Will Rise

According to Amit Ahuja, the number of seats in IITs has been rising for a while. In 2018, there were 11727 seats available across all IITs. This number rose to 13328 in 2019, 15514 in 2020, 16232 in 2021, and 16598 in 2022. Similar to prior years, many new courses will likely start in IITs this year as well. The number of these seats may be close to 17000 in such an instance.
