IIT Mumbai, IIT Delhi in Top 150 List in QS World University Rankings 2025

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), US Continues to be World’s Rank 1 University for 13th Years in a Row

IIT Mumbai and IIT Delhi have bagged place in the Top 150 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2025 which is a major feat for the Indian Educational institutions.

As per QS World University Rankings 2025, IIT Bombay has secured 118th Rank and IIT Delhi has bagged 150th rank, which means that they both are in the top 150 Educational institutions of the World.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) stands first in the list of best Indian educational institutions in India as per QS World University Rankings 2025.

The Ministry of Education, Government of India on X shared a message for IIT Mumbai and IIT Delhi

Congratulations to @iitbombay and @iitdelhi for reaching new heights in the QS World University Rankings 2025! Having achieved their positions in the top 150 rankings, IIT Bombay is now ranked 118th, climbing 31 ranks and IIT Delhi at 150th, climbing 47 ranks globally. Applauding all the stakeholders responsible for their painstaking efforts in achieving this historic feat“.

Several educational institutions have climbed up in the latest QS World University 2025 Rankings. In a major achievement, 61 percent of Indian universities have witnessed significant improvement in the QS World University 2025 Rankings.

IIT Bombay has made a significant leap improving its position from the 149th position in 2024 to 118th in the 2025 rankings which is an improvement of 31 places. This leap of IIT Bombay has given it the tag of the leading higher education institution in India on the global stage. IIT Delhi has taken a leap of 47 positions moving from 197th to 150th Rank.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has also witnessed Rank improvement. IISc has jumped from 225th to 211th Rank showing improvement of 14 positions. While IIT Kharagpur has bagged 4th Rank amongst Indian institutes, soaring from 271st to 222nd in the global rankings, IIT Madras made advancement from 285th to 227th, showing improvement of 58 ranks.

The University of Delhi (DU) has also reflected major advancement by advancing 79 ranks from 407th in 2024 to 328th. IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati and Anna University have secured 344th, 383rd and 477th rank in the QS World University Rankings 2025.

Globally, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to be the World’s best educational institute. The QS World University Rankings 2025 office notice reads,

“This year’s ranking is the largest ever, featuring over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems. The United States is the most represented country or territory, with 197 ranked institutions, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71”.
