Important Notification : Award of KVPY Fellowship 2016

The prestigious KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna) which rewards fellowships to the students interested in research careers has announced this year’s fellowships. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Level Program that provides Fellowship to the students interested in Basic Sciences. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to reward and motivate students with exceptional academic talent for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

According to the notification issued by the Convener of KVPY, IISC Bengaluru, the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna fellowships 2016 will be rewarded as per the following streams:

  1. Stream SA:Under this, the students who are studying in standard 11th (Science) during the Academic Year 2016-17 or aspiring to join an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) in the academic year 2018-19 may apply for this fellowship. They must fulfill the eligibility criteria along with passing their 10th board examinations with a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects and then should have secured a minimum of  60% (50%for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination.
  1. Stream SX:Under this scheme, those Students can apply who have enrolled in 12th standard (Science) during the academic year 2016–17 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to  B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. for the session 2017–18 provided they have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in their 10th class Board Examination and a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in their 12th board examinations.
  1. Stream SB:This scheme applies to the students who are enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences like Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to   B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. during the academic year 2016–17 and who have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics)  in the 12th Board Examination. In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./M.S. they must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.
