INESO 2023: Centre/Student Registration Begins

Would You Like to Participate In the International Earth Science Olympaid (IESO)? If Your Answers are YES, You Should Write the INESO 2023 Entrance Test

The Geological Society of India has been organising the Indian National Earth Science Olympiad (INESO 2023) and the Indian team has been participating the International event from the year 2007. The main purpose of the IESO is to create awareness about the origin of the universe, the evolution of the Earth and life and to encourage students and the public to take interest in Earth Sciences.

IESO also aims to promote friendly relations between young students from different countries and international cooperation in the exchange of ideas and materials on Earth Sciences and their teaching. The Society hosted the 7th International Earth Science Olympiad at Mysuru in 2013.

Entrance Test Dates

An entrance test will be held on 20’h May, 2023 for 90 minutes at 10.30 am in English & comprise objective type of questions spanning Geology, Geophysics, Meteorology, Oceanography, Terrestrial Astronomy and Environmental Science.

The candidate should carry the school identity card and SHOULD NOT CARRY ANY MOBILE PHONE on the day of the test. About Twenty five students chosen in order of merit will attend a Virtual Training Camp.

INESO 2023 Centre/Student Registration

INESO 2023 centre/Student registration will begin from 03rd April 2023. For registration details visit the website: https://www.geosocindia.org/index.php/ieso. The last date for Centre Registration is 26.04.2023 and Student Registration is 02.05.2023.

The Phases of IESO

IESO is a four-stage procedure: 1. National Level Entrance Test (ET), 2. Training camp & Indian National Earth Science Olympiad (INESO) (for selection of the four-member team after 3 week training programme), 3. Pre-departure Training Camp (1 week), and 4. Participation in the 1E50. The IESO event is entirely supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India.

Training Camp

The 15-day Virtual Training Camp in June-July 202 3 will comprise lectures, discussions, data mining and poster presentation. The Indian National Earth Science Olympiad will be held at the end of the Camp. The top eight students will be declared as winners of 1 fifth INESO. The International Committee has decided to Organise virtual IESO.
