The result of the first stage of the International Mathematics Olympiad, the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM), has been released.
The Mathematics Teachers Association of India, The Indian Association of Physics Teachers, and The Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education, jointly organized the exam. The selected students have qualified for the Indian National Maths Olympiad (INMO). 198 students of ALLEN Career Institute qualified for INMO, which includes 97 students from classes 8th to 10th and 101 students of classes 11th and 12th, in which 179 students from classrooms and 19 students from workshop programs. Among the top 450 in the declared results, 100 students are from ALLEN Career Institute, studying in classes 8th to 10th.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, IOQM was conducted in place of the Pre-RMO and RMO examinations this year. The examination was held on 17th January 2021. IOQM was a three-hour paper and pen exam where responses were written on the OMR sheet. The IOQM had 30 questions, with each question having an integer answer in the range 00-99.
A total of 1115 students qualified for INMO in this examination. The results of students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya will be released separately; a separate qualifier exam (IOQM-KV and IOQM-JNV respectively) was conducted for these students. After INMO, the Indian Maths Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) and International Maths Olympiad will be organized.
The national Olympiad programme in Mathematics culminating in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2021 and European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) 2022 is now a three-stage selection procedure instead of four stages.
ALLEN Career Institute is conducting a live online workshop for qualified students in IOQM from 20th February to 3rd March. This 4-hour workshop will have mock tests and analysis along with assessment and discussion. The Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO 2021) examination is to be organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education – Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (HBCSE – TIFR). The INMO 2021 will be a four-hour examination with 6 questions. The syllabus and standard of this examination will be the same as that of the INMO of previous years.
