The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are premier institutions established for fostering excellence in education and research. There are currently 23 IITs across India offering world-class undergraduate programs. Admission is based on JEE (Advanced) rankings.

2. Academic Programs Offered

Through JEE (Advanced), students can enroll in diverse undergraduate programs:

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) — 4 years
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) — 4 years
  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) — 5 years
  • Dual Degree B.Tech.-M.Tech. — 5 years
  • Dual Degree B.S.-M.S. — 5 years
  • Integrated B.S.-M.S. and Tech. — 5 years

These programs emphasize a credit-based curriculum, enabling students to progress at their own pace while maintaining academic rigor.

3. Eligibility Criteria

To appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025, candidates must fulfill five key criteria:

  1. Performance in JEE (Main) 2025: Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main).
  2. Age Limit: General category candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000 (relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, and PwD).
  3. Attempts: A maximum of two consecutive attempts are allowed.
  4. Class XII Appearance: Candidates must have first appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in either 2024 or 2025.
  5. No Prior Admission: Candidates should not have previously been admitted to an IIT.

4. Examination Structure

JEE (Advanced) 2025 comprises two compulsory papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each three hours long. The exam will test candidates’ comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Key details include:

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Languages: Available in English and Hindi
  • Date: May 18, 2025

5. Reservation Policies

The examination follows the Government of India’s reservation policies:

  • GEN-EWS: 10%
  • OBC-NCL: 27%
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • PwD: 5% (within each category)

Supernumerary seats are available for female candidates, ensuring at least 20% female enrollment across IITs.

6. Registration and Fees

Online registration for JEE (Advanced) 2025 begins on April 23, 2025, and closes on May 2, 2025. Fees are structured as follows:

  • Female, SC/ST, and PwD candidates: ₹1,600
  • Other candidates: ₹3,200
  • Foreign nationals: USD 100-250 (depending on residency)

7. Important Features for PwD Candidates

Candidates with disabilities of 40% or more can avail themselves of compensatory time and scribes, as per eligibility. Necessary documentation must be provided during registration to ensure these accommodations.

8. Admission Process

Admission to IITs is based on merit and preferences submitted during the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling. Candidates must meet additional requirements, including performance in Class XII, to secure admission.
