Students of Foreign Nationals, OCI & PIO Can Directly Apply for JEE Advanced till 2nd May 2025
The online registration for foreign national candidates, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) category students has started from today, 7 April 2025. While the Indian students have to take the JEE Main examination to qualify for the JEE Advanced examination, the Foreign nationals, OCI & PIO can directly apply for JEE Advanced examination for admissions in the coveted IITs of the country.
IIT Madras, which is organizing JEE Advanced 2025 exam, has announced beginning of the JEE Advanced 2025 registrations, on its website, for the Foreign Nationals, OCI and PIO category students. However, the registration for the JEE Advanced 2025 for the Indian students will start from 23 April 2025.
Although the online application process for foreign national candidates, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) category students and Indian students will conclude on 2nd May 2025.
Several Foreign, OCI & PIO Candidates Selected in IITs in the Past
Through the direct admission process, several foreign nationals, OCI and PIO students have been selected in the premier IIT institutes of India. While in 2024, 88 students of OCI and PIO category, and 2 foreign candidates got seats in IIT. Looking at the data of the last 5 years, it has been found that the candidates of OCI and PIO category had a higher success in JEE-Advanced entrance examinations than foreign candidates.
A total of 75 students of OCI/PIO got admission in IIT in 2023, 72 students of this category got admission in IIT in 2021, and 6 students of this category got selected for IIT in 2020. Whereas, 2 Foreign National candidates got admitted in IIT in 2024, 4 foreign National candidates got admission in IIT in 2023, 66 Foreign national candidates got admission in IIT in 2022, 4 foreign nationals were selected in IIT in 2021 and 2 foreign national candidates got admission in IIT in 2020.
Indian Students have to take JEE Main to Qualify for JEE Advanced
Unlike the foreign national students, OCI and PIO students, Indian students have to take Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE MAIN) first to qualify for writing JEE Advanced. The top 2.5 lakh candidates of the JEE Main examination qualify for writing the JEE Advanced exam.
The online registration for the JEE Advanced 2025 examination for the Indian students will start from 23 April and would continue till 2 May 2025. The last date for fee payment is 5 May 2025 (11.59 pm). Through JEE Advanced examination, admission to the students is given in the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of the country.

- Click on the Online Direct Registration for Foreign National Candidates, OCI & PIO.
- Enter the requested details and pay the application fees.
- Submit the application form of JEE Advanced 2025 Examination.
- Download the saved application or take out a print out for future references.
