JEE Advanced 2025: Registration for Foreign National, OCI & PIO category students from 7 April

Students of Foreign nationals, OCI & PIO can directly apply for JEE Advanced unlike India students

While the Online registrations for the Indian students will begin from 23 April, the online registrations for foreign national candidates, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) category students will commence from 7 April 2025.  In this regard, IIT Madras, which is organizing JEE Advanced exam, releases information on the official website.

Registrations to end on 2 May 2025

This online application process for foreign national candidates, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) category students will continue till 2nd May 2025. Let us tell you that last year in 2024, 88 of OCI and PIO category and 2 foreign candidates got seats in IIT.

If we look at the data of the last 5 years, it is known that the candidates of OCI and PIO category have a higher chance of success in JEE-Advanced entrance exam as compared to foreign candidates. While 75 students of OCI/PIO got admission in IIT in 2023, 72 students of this category got admission in IIT in 2021, and 6 students of this category got selected for IIT in 2020.

Whereas, 2 Foreign National candidates got admission in IIT in 2024, 4 foreign National candidates got admission in IIT in 2023, 66 Foreign national candidates got admission in IIT in 2022, 4 foreign nationals were selected in IIT in 2021 and 2 foreign national candidates got admission in IIT in 2020.

Indian students qualify from JEE Main

Indian students have to first clear the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE MAIN) for writing JEE Advanced. The top 2.5 lakh candidates of this exam qualify for the JEE Advanced exam. This year, the online application process for Indian students will begin from 23 April and would conclude on 2 May 2025.

The last date for fee payment is 5 May 2025 (11.59 pm). While foreign, OCI and PIO category candidates can directly apply online for JEE Advanced. They do not need to qualify JEE Main examination for taking JEE Advanced examination.

JEE Advanced gives admission in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of the country, while JEE Main gives admission in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
