JIC Report Reveals Why JEE Advanced is Getting More Difficult Every Year

Even the Toppers Could not Score 100% Marks

The JEE Advanced exam is considered the most prestigious and difficult for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Recently, the IIT’s Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) has released a detailed report, in which it has become clear that JEE Advanced is becoming more challenging every year.

According to the report, the topper of any category was not able to score 100 percent marks in any subject. This fact shows that both the level and depth of the exam are becoming increasingly difficult.

The committee’s report shows that in the year 2025 examination, no student, including the topper, scored full marks in a single subject. For example, in Paper-1 Mathematics question number 10 which was based on combinations, was solved by only 1.44% candidates, while 65.66% students gave the wrong answer. In the same paper, only 0.48% students were able to solve question number 13 in Chemistry. Only 1.27% candidates were able to solve question number 9 correctly.

Talking about Paper-2, two difficult questions of Physics kept most of the students confused. Not even 2% students were successful in solving question number 9 (Dipole Movements) and question number 12 (Orbital Mechanics).

Know Why is the Difficulty Level of JEE Advanced Increasing

Experts believe that there are many reasons behind the increase in the difficulty of the exam:

Competition from IIT – Every year lakhs of students appear in the exam and the competition for limited seats increases.

Deep questions – Now the questions are not directly formula based but based on application and concept.

International level exam – The exam level is being strengthened further to make IIT a global centre of engineering education.

Lessons for Candidates

The report gives the message that mere rote learning or memorizing formulas cannot lead to success in JEE Advanced. Students should:

  • Strong grip on concepts.
  • Develop the ability to solve difficult questions through Intensive practice.
  • Solve model papers and previous years’ question papers so that you can get an idea of the difficulty level.
  • Pay attention to time management, because choosing the right questions in a difficult paper is the most important.

The report of the Joint Implementation Committee of IIT proves that the JEE Advanced exam is becoming more challenging every year. Not scoring 100% marks in any subject and qualifying even with less marks shows that the competition is no longer just a race for marks, but it is a test of deep understanding and analytical ability.

Qualification Even with Minimum Marks

According to the report, the last candidate of the general category scored only 16 marks out of 120 in Mathematics, 22 in Physics and 36 in Chemistry. Despite this, he qualified for counseling. This makes it clear that the level of the paper was so difficult that even those who scored less marks were able to get selected.

The category-wise figures are also very interesting. For example:

  • Last candidate of the general category – Mathematics 16, Physics 22, Chemistry 36 marks, total 74 marks.
  • Last candidate of the OBC category – total 66 marks.
  • EWS candidate – total 66 marks.
  • SC candidate – total 37 marks.
  • ST candidate – total 37 marks.

It is clear from these figures that the paper was so difficult that the marks of the students qualifying in different categories were very limited.

Increasing Participation of Girls

The participation of girls in admission to IIT is also increasing continuously. According to the report:

After the common counseling of the year 2025, a total of 3664 girls got admission.

Out of these, 3633 girls got seats under the female pool and 31 girls managed to get a place in the gender neutral pool.

Overall, the percentage of girl students getting admission was 20.15%.

41,337 girls gave both the papers, out of which 9404 girls qualified.

The female topper had an all India rank of 16, which is a significant achievement.

Important Points Related to the Report

  1. JEE Advanced is getting tougher every year – According to the report, the level of the paper is being continuously increased.
  2. No 100% marks in any subject – Even the toppers could not score full marks.
  3. Maths and Physics are the most difficult subjects – The report mentions that most of the students failed in the questions of Maths and Physics.
  4. Selection even on minimum marks – Due to the difficulty level, even those who got less marks became eligible for counseling.
  5. Strong presence of girls – Increasing numbers in the female pool and gender neutral pool have improved the gender balance.

The increasing participation of girls is a positive sign towards balance and equal opportunity in IIT. In the coming years, candidates will have to work harder and study more deeply so that they can succeed in this tough exam and reach their dream IIT.
