Unlike the four attempts of JEE Main last year (2021), the National Testing Agency (NTA) could organize the JEE Main only twice this year.
Before the year 2019, JEE Main was held only once a year, but NTA increased JEE Main Attempts from 1 to 2 for the first time in the year 2019. The number of attempts increased from 2 to 4 in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the best score of 4 attempts was considered the final result of the JEE Main.
Now a report from the Times of India has indicated that the NTA may again reduce the number of attempts of JEE Main from 4 to 2 this year. The two attempts of the JEE Main could be conducted in April and May. The JEE Main examination is organized every year for granting admission into the top engineering colleges, NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded educational institutions of India.
JEE Main is also an eligibility examination for taking JEE Advanced, through which admissions are given to IITs.
ToI reports say that the Covid-19 pandemic was the reason behind the 4 Attempts in JEE Main last year (2021). As per an official of the Ministry of Education, improvement in the Covid-19 scenario and delay in the CBSE board examination has reduced the margin for conducting JEE Main 4 times a year.
