NTA to Declare Exam and Application Dates Soon
National Testing Agency, NTA recently released its official guidelines pertaining to the JEE Main 2025 in terms of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Person with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
The NTA has come up with these guidelines due to a number of such queries by students seeking assistance of scribe facility, extra time, etc.
The guidelines have also issued instructions stating that candidates with a disability will be given more compensatory time when they come for the JEE Main 2025 examination. Thus, for those individuals, the total time of examination, which is three hours, will be four hours. More so, candidates who need the same can request documentation submission for availing services of a scribe along with the examination.
“The National Testing Agency has received several queries on issues relating to scribes and compensatory time for PwD and PwBD candidates. These guidelines are based on Government Notifications and Office Memorandums related to the accommodations available in JEE Main,” notified the NTA.
NTA further reminds that “compensatory time” be used instead of “extra time” or “additional time.” That is,
Candidates who use a scribe, reader or lab assistant: compensatory time shall be at least 20 minutes per hour of the examination.
All PwBD candidates who qualify for these accommodations will receive at least an additional hour for the three-hour examination regardless of whether they decide to use a scribe.
The additional time to be provided shall not be less than five minutes. And, it must also be in multiples of five minutes.
The guidelines thus will help in ensuring that help PwD and PwBD candidates receive towards making good performances in the JEE Main 2025 examination. The dates for examination and registration the NTA will also reveal shortly.
