JEE Main 2026: 10.60 Lakh Applications So Far

Five Days Left for Conclusion of Registration Process for JEE Main 2026

The application process for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main 2026), one of the premier engineering education exams in the country, has reached its final stage. Over a million aspirants have already joined the online application process, which began on October 31st. By 2 pm on Saturday, a total of 10.60 lakh candidates had submitted their applications.

The National Testing Agency has clarified that there will be no extension to the application deadline this year. Therefore, students who have not yet registered have only five days left.

Current Status of Online Applications

Since the start of the JEE Main 2026 application process, there has been considerable enthusiasm among candidates. As of Saturday afternoon, around 10.60 lakh students had registered. This number is still far behind last year’s record.

Experts believe that, like previous years, the number of applications may increase rapidly in the final days, but due to the limited time, candidates should complete the process as soon as possible.

Why is it Important to Apply on Time

Last year, a large number of students complained of difficulties during the final days of the application process. The National Testing Agency has already clarified this time that the deadline will not be extended. Therefore, it is even more important that students complete their registration on time.

In 2025, 15.39 lakh candidates applied for JEE Main, which is considered the highest ever. The number of students appearing for the exam also reached close to 14.75 lakh, the highest in the history of this exam. While 10.60 lakh applications have been received so far this year.

Last Date and Time to Apply

As per the JEE Main 2026 Application process of the National Testing Agency, last Date for Online Application is November 27th at 9:00 PM and last Date for Fee Payment: November 27th at 11:50 PM. After this deadline, neither applications nor payments will be accepted. Therefore, candidates are advised not to wait until the last minute to avoid technical issues.

How to Correct Form Mistakes

While filling out the application form, candidates often mistakenly upload incorrect category, name spelling, date of birth, photo, or other documents. To correct these issues, the NTA provides a correction window.

This correction process for JEE Main 2026 will be open between December 1st and 2nd. Candidates will be able to make corrections to their forms during these two days. The deadline for making corrections is December 2nd at 11:50 pm.

This feature is crucial because incorrect forms often result in candidates being denied entry into the exam or later facing difficulties in the counseling process.

Importance of appearing in JEE Main 2026

JEE Main scores are crucial for admission to the country’s prestigious engineering institutes, such as NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutes. Furthermore, qualifying JEE Main is also mandatory for appearing in JEE Advanced.

This exam provides admission to not only government but also many private institutions. Therefore, it is essential for every engineering aspirant to take this exam seriously.

Apply on time and focus on preparation.

While the application process is in its final days, students are also busy preparing for JEE Main 2026. Completing the application early allows students to fully focus on their preparation.
