JEE Main 2026 – Avoid These Mistakes Else Application Form will be Rejected

Here are the Important Rules for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Registration

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for the country’s largest engineering entrance exam, JEE Main 2026. Like every year, millions of students will appear for this exam, but this time some new rules have been added to the JEE Main 2026 application process. If candidates make even a slight mistake in these rules, their form may be rejected.

So far, approximately 1.60 lakh students have applied. The exam will be conducted in two sessions — the first session from January 21 to 30, 2026, and the second session from April 1 to 9, 2026. The last date to apply is November 27, 2025.

Mistakes Made During Registration Can Be Costly

According to an education expert at ALLEN Career Institute, the JEE Main 2026 application process will be completed in three stages this time. However, there are some crucial points in each stage that, if overlooked, can lead to the rejection of the form.

First Stage: Entering Incorrect Information Can Invalidate the Form

  • The student must first create a login on the official JEE Main website.
  • It is essential to fill in the name, parents’ names, gender, date of birth, identity card number, mobile number, email ID, and address correctly.
  • Any error or spelling mistake in any information may render the application invalid.
  • After creating the login, the student will receive an application number, which must be kept safe.

Phase Two: Avoid Mistakes in Live Photo and 12th Registration Number

  • In this phase, candidates will have to fill in information regarding their Nationality, State Code of Eligibility, Category, Exam Centre, and Class 10th and 12th details.
  • Enter the State Code of Eligibility from where you passed your 12th standard. Improvement students should enter the code of the state from where they first passed their 12th standard.
  • Scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and 10th mark sheet must be uploaded with the application.
  • This time, uploading a live photograph is mandatory. This photo must match the photo on your Aadhaar card.
  • If the live photo does not match, the form will be automatically rejected. Therefore, it is essential to update your latest photo on your Aadhaar card before applying.
  • Also, for the first time this year, students appearing for the 12th examination in 2026 are required to provide their 12th registration number. Entering this incorrectly will result in the application not being accepted.

Phase Three: Pay Attention to Fee Payment and Confirmation Page

  • In the final stage of the application, the examination fee must be paid using a debit card, credit card, net banking, or Paytm.
  • After payment, it is mandatory to download and save four copies of the confirmation page.
  • An application without the confirmation page may be considered incomplete.
  • Candidates are advised to update their Category Certificate before applying.
  • The examination centre will be selected based on the student’s current and permanent address, and not on the Aadhaar card address.

Don’t Commit These Mistakes, Otherwise the Form Will Be Rejected

  1. Entering an incorrect name, date of birth, or identification number in the application.
  2. Not uploading a live photo or the live photo not matching the Aadhaar photo.
  3. Entering the 12th registration number incorrectly. 4. Not downloading the confirmation page after fee payment.
  4. Uploading old or incorrect category certificates.
  5. Filling in the wrong State Code of Eligibility.

Important Dates

  • Application Start – November 2025
  • Last Date to Apply – November 27, 2025
  • First Session Exam – January 21-30, 2026
  • Second Session Exam – April 1-9, 2026

The application process for JEE-Main 2026 has been made stricter this time. NTA has clarified that students who provide incorrect or incomplete information in their application will have their forms rejected without prior notice. Therefore, carefully check all the information while filling out the application and upload all documents in the correct format.

Apply on time with the correct information so that your dream of getting admission to an engineering college does not remain unfulfilled.
