JEE Main 2026: Does Early or Late Form Filling Affect the Exam Date & Paper Level?

Know the Real Facts Behind the Myths Related to JEE Main 2026 Application

JEE Main 2026 Does early or late form filling affect the exam date & paper level

Every year, we interact with millions of students and hear their experiences, often leading us to hear several kind of rumors. This time, too, a misconception is rapidly spreading among the JEE Main 2026 aspirants, which is crucial to understand and dispel.

What is this Misconception Spreading Among Students?

Many students believe that Candidates who fill out the JEE Main form first or those who receive the earliest application number, will receive exam dates between January 21st and 25th.

While many aspirants have even assumed that if they fill out the form late, they will be offered exams on earlier dates, and the paper becomes more difficult on later dates. This is a completely false belief, but students believe it to be true.

Why did this Misconception Based on the Application Number Arise?

As soon as a candidate fills out the form, a long 12-digit application number is generated. The first part (e.g., 260310) is the same for all students, while the subsequent digits vary.

Some aspirants assume that a lower application number means an early exam date, while a longer application number is equal to a late exam date. But this logic has never been applicable to JEE Main.

What is the Reality?

Over the years, counselling experts at ALLEN have helped not thousands, but millions of students fill out their applications. To date, there has been no evidence that early applicants always receive early dates or late applicants receive later dates. This is a complete myth and a misperception.

Is the Paper Easier During Early Dates?

This is also a major misconception. Many students believe that the paper on the first day is easy, the paper in the middle is moderate, and it becomes difficult in the final days.

The NTA Itself has Clarified that:

  • The difficulty level of the paper is completely random.
  • It is not decided whether the paper will be easy or difficult for any particular date or shift.
  • An effort is made to keep the nature of all shifts as similar as possible, but the order of difficulty level is not predetermined.

What do Examples from Previous Years Say?

In both 2024 and 2025, we observed:

  • The paper was easy in many early shifts.
  • Difficulty increased in some later shifts.
  • Then, the paper became easy again in the final days.
  • In April 2025, the paper was difficult in the beginning and relatively easy in the middle dates.

This makes it absolutely clear that the difficulty of the paper has nothing to do with the dates.

What Should Students Do?

  1. Fill out the form calmly. Haste only leads to mistakes.
  1. Don’t stress about the application number. It has no connection to the exam date or difficulty.
  1. Don’t believe rumors. Only official information from the NTA is valid.
  1. Fill out the form carefully, without any mistakes. This is the most important thing.

The rumours circulating regarding the JEE Main exam date and paper level are entirely misleading. Filling out the form early or late does not determine your exam date nor does it affect the paper level. Students should stay away from such myth-based discussions and focus on their preparation.
