JEE Main 2026: Enter Only Personal or Guardian’s Contact Details in Registration

NTA Issues Important Guidelines Regarding the Application Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun the online application process for the JEE Main 2026 January session. Millions of students across the country are preparing to appear for the exam.

This time, the NTA has issued some important guidelines regarding the application process. The most important of these is that candidates should only enter their own or their parent’s/guardian’s email address and mobile number when filling out the application form.

The NTA has clarified that all information related to the application process—such as application status, exam centre information, admit card download link, and other exam-related announcements—will be sent only to the registered email address and mobile number entered in the application form.

Therefore, if a candidate provides incorrect contact information, they will not receive important updates, increasing the risk of their application being rejected.

NTA’s Guidelines on Entering Email Address & Mobile Number in Registration

According to the NTA, the email address and mobile number provided for registration must belong to the candidate or their parent/guardian. Do not use contact details from a cyber cafe or coaching institute when applying. Doing so may cause problems with password recovery, OTP verification, or admit card downloads in the future.

It has often been observed that students use the email address of an acquaintance or a cafe operator during application. Such negligence can hinder your access to important exam-related information. Therefore, only enter your active email and mobile number when applying.

JEE Main 2026: Application deadline is November 27

According to the NTA notification, the last date for online applications for the JEE Main 2026 January session has been set as November 27, 2025. This means that approximately a fortnight remains to apply. Candidates who have not yet filled out the form are advised not to wait for the deadline.

In the final days, heavy website traffic often causes server slowdowns or technical errors in the payment process. Therefore, it is best to complete the application well in advance.

After the application process is complete, the exam city information will be released in the first week of January. The admit card download link will be available on the NTA’s official website shortly thereafter.

Keep Email and Password Safe

The NTA has clearly warned candidates not to share their email ID, password, or mobile number with anyone. This is your personal information, and misuse of it could result in the cancellation of your application or increase the risk of data leakage.

If you experience any technical issues with your mobile number, reactivate it immediately. Remember, all exam-related information will be sent to this registered number or email address.

Check Emails and Messages Regularly

All notifications, OTPs, and instructions sent by the NTA are received via email or SMS. Therefore, be sure to check your email inbox and SMS regularly. Also, pay attention to the spam folder to ensure you don’t miss any important information.

Additionally, if a candidate faces any application-related issues—such as login errors, payment problems, or technical issues—they can contact the NTA directly at its official email ID [jeemain@nta.ac.in](mailto:jeemain@nta.ac.in). Do not trust any unknown websites or social media.

Tips for a Secure and Error-Free Application

  1. Fill in personal details carefully: Include information such as name, date of birth, parent’s name, and category as per official documents.
  2. Upload photo and signature in the correct format: The photo must be clear and recent. Signatures must be scanned in blue or black ink.
  3. Keep the receipt safe after payment: Download and preserve the receipt generated when you paid the application fee.
  4. Print the confirmation page: After submitting the form, take a printout and keep it safe with your documents.
  5. Recheck contact details: Re-verify your email address and mobile number before submitting your application.

Importance of the JEE Main Exam

The JEE Main exam is one of India’s most prestigious engineering entrance exams. Through this exam, students gain admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other central technical institutes. Furthermore, this exam also determines eligibility for the JEE Advanced, which opens the door to admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Therefore, it is extremely important to take every step of the application process seriously. Even a small mistake in the application can impact your eligibility. It is important for all candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2026 January session to complete the application process with utmost care.

Please enter only your email address or your parent/guardian’s email address and mobile number. Do not use any third party’s contact details and keep your login information confidential. Check your email regularly, keep your mobile number active, and apply before the deadline. Following all guidelines issued by the NTA will not only keep your application secure but also ensure you receive all exam-related information on time.

As a responsible candidate, it is your responsibility to ensure you do not neglect the application process. Remember—careful and timely preparation are the first steps to success.
