JEE Main 2026 – Required Documents for Online Application Form

JEE Main 2026 January Session 1 Exam likely to start soon

Millions of students across the country are waiting for the JEE Main 2026 exam. This exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the main gateway to admission in prestigious colleges related to engineering, architecture, and technology, such as NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

The JEE Main 2026 application form will be released very soon. Therefore, it is most important that you keep all the necessary documents ready beforehand so that you do not face any problems during the application process.

Here, we will discuss in detail which documents will be required to fill the JEE Main 2026 Application Form, and we will also share some important tips to simplify the form filling process.

  1. Class 10 Mark sheet

The first document required for the JEE Main application is the Class 10 marksheet.

This marksheet is used to verify your Date of Birth. The date of birth in the application form is entered exactly as it appears on the Class 10 marksheet.

Therefore:

    • Keep a scanned copy (PDF or JPG format) of your Class 10 marksheet with you.
    • Ensure that the marksheet is clear and legible.
    • If your original certificate is still deposited with the school, an attested copy can also be used.
  1. Class 12 Marks Sheet

If you have passed the 12th examination, then the Class 12 marksheet is also required.

The 12th mark sheet proves your Eligibility Criteria, as only those students who have either passed the 12th examination or are appearing for the examination in the current session can participate in the JEE Main exam.

Students who have already appeared for the 12th examination can use the Provisional Marksheet.  If you are a Class 12 Appearing Candidate, the Certificate of Appearing issued by your school is also acceptable at the time of application.

  1. Identity Proof

Aadhaar Card is the primary identity proof for the JEE Main form. However, if for any reason you do not have an Aadhaar card, you can use one of the following documents:

    • PAN Card
    • Passport
    • Driving License
    • Voter ID

The Aadhaar card is the most common and easily verifiable document. Therefore, if you do not currently have an Aadhaar card, it is advisable to get one before applying.

  1. Passport Size Photograph

A recent color passport-size photograph needs to be uploaded while filling the form. The guidelines related to the photograph are as follows:

    • Approximately 80% of your face should be clearly visible.
    • The background should be white or light colored.
    • The photo should not be blurred or dark.
    • Upload the photo in JPEG or JPG format.
    • The photo size should generally be between 10 KB and 200 KB.

While uploading the photo, also ensure that it is a recent photograph, as an old photo may cause problems with your identification.

  1. Signature

    • Your digital signature also needs to be uploaded.
    • Sign clearly on a white paper with a blue or black pen.
    • Scan it and save it in JPEG/JPG format.
    • The file size should be approximately between 4 KB and 30 KB.

This signature will be used for your identification at the examination center, so keep it correct and clear.

  1. Category Certificate

If you belong to the OBC, SC, ST, or EWS category, you will need to upload a category certificate. This will entitle you to reservation-related benefits. Some important points:

    • OBC or EWS certificates must be issued after April 1, 2025.
    • For SC/ST certificates, older certificates are also valid.
    • The certificate must be issued by a government authority and in the correct format.
    • The scanned copy should be clear and legible.
  1. Payment Mode

The JEE Main application fee must be paid online. You can choose any of the following options:

    • Debit Card
    • Credit Card
    • UPI
    • Net Banking

Before making the payment, ensure that you have sufficient funds in your account and a stable internet connection to avoid transaction failure.

  1. Other Suggestions (Important Tips for Students)

Before filling out the application form, carefully read the guidelines provided on the official NTA website (jeemain.nta.ac.in). Save scanned copies of all documents in a folder beforehand.

Fill in the details accurately while filling out the application form, as providing incorrect information may lead to your form being rejected. After submitting the form, be sure to download and print the confirmation page.

A little caution and preparation while filling out the JEE Main 2026 application form will be very helpful.

Therefore, keep your documents such as 10th and 12th mark sheets, Aadhaar card, passport size photo, signature, and category certificate ready from now on.
