The second round seat allocation of JoSAA counseling for 62,853 seats in 128 institutes including IITs and NITs of the country was released on Wednesday.
Students who have been allotted seats for the first time in this round will have to upload the required documents and pay the seat acceptance fee by 5 pm on June 29 and report online. Students whose documents are found lacking during online reporting will have to respond by 5 pm on July 1. Otherwise their seat will be cancelled.
Seats of these Students got Cancelled
Career counselling expert of Allen Career Institute said that after the first round of seat allocation, the seats allotted to the students of OBC and EWS category who could not submit their category certificate after 1 April 2025 in online reporting have been cancelled from the first round. Also, these students have received the information about the cancellation of their allotted seat through the seat cancellation letter on their candidate portal.
Now all these students have been allotted seats from the open category in the second round. All these students will have to confirm their seats by reporting online again for their newly received seat.
Dual Verification of these Students will be Done
According to expert, the documents uploaded in the first round seat allocation of such students who have been allotted seats from IIT to NIT and NIT to IIT in the second round will be verified again with the newly allotted system.
After that the newly allotted seat will be confirmed. On the contrary, students who have already been allotted seats and have opted for float and slide, have been allotted IIT to IIT and NIT to NIT seats in the second round and their new seats have been confirmed on the basis of their previously verified documents.
All these students will not be able to make any claim on their first round allotted seats if they are allotted new seats. All these students are also not required to upload documents again in online reporting. Students can participate in further counseling by changing the float option to slide and freeze and the slide option to freeze in each round of counseling.
Reason will have to be given for Seat Withdrawal
Expert said that withdrawal option is available for those students who want to withdraw from JoSAA counseling after the second round. Students can leave their seat and exit the counseling by filling the required information.
For this, they will have to tell JoSAA the reason for leaving the seat. These reasons include which college and which branch the student was expecting to get, whether he has got admission in any other college (except IIT, NIT) in 2025 and whether the student is willing to appear in JEE Main again in 2026.
Students can withdraw from their allotted seat till the fifth round. After deducting the counselling processing fee of Rs 5000, the remaining fee will be refunded to the students.
