Last Week Strategy for JEE Advanced 2025: Chemistry
Here’s Final Preparation, Strategy and Tips by Gaurav Sharma Sir, Senior Faculty, Chemistry, ALLEN Online
Now that JEE Advanced is around the corner, it is important to work hard in the right direction and make the most of the final days.
First of all, make a list of all the topics that you need to revise. It is very important to follow the syllabus strictly as JEE Advanced is an exam that often does not cover anything outside the syllabus, but definitely covers it in depth.
Effective revision techniques:
Active recall – Ask yourself questions and think of answers.
Spaced repetition – After reading something, revise it at short intervals. Chemistry is more factual, so this method is extremely useful.
Strategy for the remaining days:
Identify your strong and weak areas.
Assign a topic for each day and complete it in the given time.
Collect textbooks, notes and previous years question papers. Old question papers give you clarity about the format and style of asking the exam.
Important Topics:
Physical Chemistry – Give priority to Mole Concept, Redox, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Equilibrium etc.
Inorganic Chemistry – Pay special attention to Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, P-Block Elements, Metallurgy and Salt Analysis.
Organic Chemistry – Study all Aromatic Compounds, Halo Alkanes, Isomerism, Hydrocarbons, Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Biomolecules and Polymers holistically. Topics in organic often combine to form questions.
Practice and Revision Plan:
Keep the morning time for your weak topics as the mind is fresh.
In the afternoon, focus on those subjects in which you are already strong.
Keep the evening for practice – do PYQs, MCQs and mock tests.
Smart ways of studying:
Adopt the Feynman technique – study as if you are explaining to someone.
Avoid passive study – just reading with the book in hand is not effective.
Make notes and prepare flash cards.
Importance of Mock Test:
Give the mock test at the same time as the actual exam.
After that analyze where you went wrong and correct them.
Things to keep in mind during the last days of the exam:
Get enough sleep. Start practicing sleeping and waking up at the exam time.
Visit your exam center a day before. Going to an unknown place on the day of the exam can increase stress.
Keep the required material like admit card, pen etc. ready before time.
Final points of revision:
Make sure to revise equation balancing, science conventions in thermodynamics, units and exceptions.
Understand the frequently asked things in periodic properties, hybridization and structural analysis in depth.
Pay attention to the number of carbon atoms in organic questions – it is an easy way to arrive at the answer.
Some important tips:
Avoid studying too much, rather study intelligently.
Keep a stable physical and mental state. A calm and organized mind gives the best performance.
