Now 3 new AIIMS also included
The counseling process of NEET UG 2025 has now reached a new turn. Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has revised the seat matrix released for the first round.
This time there has been an increase in government MBBS seats, and 3 AIIMS institutes, which were missing earlier, have also been added. This update has brought great relief to lakhs of students waiting for medical seats.
Now the number of government MBBS seats has increased to 12302
According to the revised seat matrix released by MCC, a total of 22,951 MBBS seats are available in the first round of counseling of NEET UG 2025. Of these:
Seats in government medical colleges: 12302
Seats in private and deemed universities: 10649
There has been an increase of 604 seats in government MBBS seats as compared to earlier. Earlier their number was 11698. This increase has raised new hopes for the students dreaming of studying MBBS in a government college.
Increase in AIIMS seats: Now total 2257 seats
In the initial seat matrix Bilaspur, Gorakhpur and Guwahati AIIMS were not included, which has now been revised. Apart from this, 7 seats of NRI quota of AIIMS Delhi have also been newly added. With all these changes, the total seat number of AIIMS has increased from 1900 to 2257.

ESIC also has 189 seats from All India quota
Talking about ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) medical colleges, now a total of 635 seats are available in it:
446 seats from Insurance Person quota
189 seats under All India 15% quota
This figure has been made clear and systematic as compared to earlier, which will facilitate students in choice filling.
Increase in seats of JIPMER also
MBBS seats of JIPMER (Puducherry and Karaikal) have also increased. Earlier there were a total of 179 seats, which has now increased to 243 seats – that is, an increase of 64 seats has been registered.
Central University MBBS seats: Increase of 138
MBBS seats have also increased in Central University. Earlier there were a total of 1014 seats, which has now increased to 1152. In this way 138 new seats have been added, which can be a golden opportunity for the students.
Slight decline in seats of State Medical College
However, the seats of state government medical colleges were earlier shown as 8159, which have now been reduced to 8015. This is a reduction of 144 seats, which have been reduced due to various technical or administrative reasons.
Technical problems and MCC’s clarification
MCC issued an official notification stating that some colleges and seats were not visible to the students during choice filling because the concerned institutions had not submitted the required information on time. Along with this, it was also clarified that some seats were appearing twice, which have now been removed and the updated seat matrix has been released.

This seat increase in the first round of counseling of NEET UG 2025 will benefit lakhs of students who are dreaming of doing MBBS in government and prestigious medical colleges. This increase in AIIMS, ESIC, JIPMER and Central Universities has definitely brought great relief to the students.
