The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has released its official examination calendar for the academic session 2026-27. This calendar includes the dates for a total of 20 examinations related to recruitment and admissions.
AIIMS is one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the country, and studying there can help students build successful careers not only in India but also abroad.
While admission to AIIMS’ MBBS and BDS seats is usually through NEET UG, AIIMS also offers several other courses for which admission is granted through separate entrance examinations.
These include nursing, biotechnology, paramedical, and postgraduate medical courses.

Other AIIMS Options for Students Unsuccessful in NEET
For students who are unable to succeed in NEET UG or NEET PG for any reason, these AIIMS examinations can prove to be an excellent opportunity.
AIIMS conducts several entrance examinations every year at the UG, PG, super-specialty, and fellowship levels. In addition, an examination for the fellowship program is also conducted twice a year.
In 2026, the first fellowship examination will be held on April 18th and the second on November 28th.

BSc Nursing and INI-CET: The Most In-Demand Courses
BSc Nursing
BSc Nursing (Hons) and Post-Basic BSc Nursing are among the most popular courses at AIIMS. Approximately 1300 seats are available for admission through these courses. This course is specifically for female candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must have passed Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
- A minimum of 55 percent marks is mandatory for the general category.
Exam Pattern
- Total 100 multiple-choice questions
- 30 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- 10 questions from General Knowledge
- Exam duration: 2 hours
- An interview is also conducted after the written examination.
A Golden Future in Healthcare with Paramedical Courses
BSc (Hons) Paramedical courses are available at various AIIMS institutions, offering career opportunities in different fields of the healthcare sector. This is a three-year course, with admissions available at AIIMS Delhi, Bhopal, Raipur, and other AIIMS institutions.
Exam Format
- Computer-based test
- Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
- 30 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- 1 mark for each correct answer
- 1/3 mark negative marking for each incorrect answer
- The exam is conducted in both Hindi and English.

PG Admissions in AIIMS and other Institutions through INI-CET
The Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) is conducted for admission to postgraduate medical courses. This exam is held every year in January and July. Through this exam, admissions are granted to prestigious institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, and NIMHANS.
Eligibility Criteria
- MBBS degree is mandatory
- Completion of one year of internship is required
- Valid registration with the Medical Council
Exam Pattern
- Computer-based examination
- Duration: 3 hours
- 200 MCQ questions from the MBBS syllabus

AIIMS Fellowship Program: Experience and Stipend
The AIIMS Fellowship Program is a 1 to 2-year post-doctoral course. It offers the opportunity to specialize in medical, surgical, nursing, and dental fields. The selection process is conducted in two stages.
Stipend
Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 70,000 per month
Eligibility
Minimum 55 percent marks in MBBS/BDS
60 percent marks in BSc/MSc Nursing
5 percent relaxation for SC/ST category
Minimum 3 years of work experience is mandatory
Exam Pattern
- First stage: 1-hour exam, 60 questions
- Second stage: 40-mark practical test
