NEET UG 2025 Exam City Selection Process Revised

Now the Aspirant can Choose Three Cities Instead of Two Cities for Exam Centres

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the registrations for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2025 examination. The aspirants of NEET UG 2025 examination can register themselves on the official website of NEET UG 2025 Exam which is– neet.nta.nic.in


NTA has introduced several changes in the NEET UG 2025 Examination of which change in the selection process of examination cities is also among crucial changes. While applying for the NEET UG 2025 Examinations, it is important for the NEET UG 2025 aspirants to have thorough knowledge of all the key changes including the revision in the exam city selection process.

The NEET UG 2025 registrations will conclude on 7 March while the NEET UG 2025 Examination will be held on 4 May 2025.The NEET UG 2025 Examination results will be declared on 14 June 2025.

Key Change in the Exam City Selection Process

NTA has revised the Examination city selection process. In NEET UG 2024, aspirants had the option of choosing two cities for the NEET UG examination. Now in NEET UG 2025, aspirants have been given the opportunity to select 3 cities instead of the earlier choice of 2 cities. When aspirant will fill out the application form of NEET UG 2025, they must give choices of 3 examination cities in order of their preference.

Although the aspirant has been given the choice to choose 3 cities for examination centre but they will have to select the examination cities from within the state of their permanent or present address. This decision has been taken for the convenience of the NEET UG 2025 aspirants so that they do not have to travel to distant examination centres of other states.

Aspirants have been advised to select the cities for examination cities within their own state or nearby cities. The NTA has discouraged the selection of faraway cities in other states. Meanwhile, the NTA can assign examination centres in cities which were not selected by the aspirants, if the number of aspirants at the selected examination centre with a regional language is not sufficient enough.

The NTA has also changed the number of examination centres in the country. The number of NEET UG 2025 Examination centres has been reduced in the country. While there were 557 examination centres in the country for NEET UG 2024, this year the number of examination centres for NEET UG 2025 is 552, which are 5 less than previous year.

Although, the number of examination cities for NEET UG 2025 outside India is unchanged. There were 14 International examination cities in NEET UG 2024 which has kept same for NEET UG 2025.

Exam Centre Opening Time Increased

National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the examination centre opening time for NEET UG 2025 in view of the convenience of the aspirants. Earlier, the examination centre were opened 2 hours before the examination for NEET UG examinations in the past but now NTA has increased the Examination centre opening time to 3 hours before the examination.

Earlier the examination centre of NEET UG examinations would open 2 hours prior the examination starting at 2 pm. Now the examination centre would be opened 3 hours before the examination. The examination centre of NEET UG 2025 would now open at 11 am for the examination starting at 2 pm.

The 3-hour-long examination would conclude at 5 pm. The examination centre opening time has been increased in view of security and avoiding sudden rush of the aspirants for entry.
