NEET UG 2025: New Tie-Breaking Rules to Rank Candidates

Those Who Get More Marks in Biology will Now Get the First Rank

NTA has started the application process for NEET UG-2025 entrance exam. Along with this, tie-breaking rules for merit students for NEET UG 2025 have also been issued. In order to rank candidates in NEET UG 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will employ a tie-breaking policy to rank candidates if they score equal in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 examination.

As per the Tie-Breaking rules for NEET UG 2025, if two candidates will equal marks in NEET UG 2025 then the student with higher marks in biology marks will be ranked ahead. While the application numbers and aspirant age were Tie-Breaking criteria in NEET UG 2024, such criteria have not been included in Tie-Breaking rules for NEET UG 2025. The tie-breaking policy aims to ensure fairness and transparency in the exam process.

Tie-Breaking Policy for NEET-UG 2025

As per the Tie-Breaking Policy for NEET UG 2025, if two candidates will score equal marks or NEET UG percentile, then their rank will be decided through Tie-Breaking Rules. Here is a list of the Tie-Breaking rules for NEET UG 2025:

  • Those candidate will be given higher rank who will have high marks, percentage score in Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • Those candidate will be given higher rank who will receive High marks, percentage score in Chemistry.
  • Those candidates will be given higher rank who will score High marks, percentage score in Physics.
  • Those candidates will be given higher rank who will have low proportion of number of wrong answers and correct answers in all subjects.
  • Candidates with many wrong answers and low proportion of correct answers in Biology.
  • Candidates with many wrong answers and low proportion of correct answers in Chemistry.
  • Candidates with many wrong answers and low proportion of correct answers in Physics.

In case, all the above criteria will fail to decide the rank then the matter of awarding rank will be decided through a random process in the guidance of an independent expert committee.

Applications will be accepted till 7 March

Applications will be accepted from 7th February to 7th March till 11.50 pm. Last date for depositing fees will be 7th March. Amendments can be made in the application form between 9th and 11th March. Exam centers will be announced on 26th April. Admit cards will be issued on 1 May 2025

The exam will be held on 4th May between 2 to 5 pm in 552 cities of the country and 14 foreign centers. In Rajasthan, it will be held in 25 cities. 25 to 26 lakh students are expected to appear in this exam. Through this examination, admission will be given to around 1 lakh 18 thousand seats of MBBS, 28 thousand seats of BDS and around 2.5 lakh seats of other courses.

Through NEET UG 2025, admission will be given in D MBBS, BDS, BMS, BUMS, BHMS, BYMS, partially veterinary and nursing courses. There are 1 lakh 17 thousand 950 seats for MBBS. This entrance exam will be in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
