NEET UG 2025 All India Counselling Round 3: MCC Extends Choice-Filling Deadline Again

Choices can now be Filled Until 11:59 pm Tonight, Seat Allocation Results Delayed

The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has once again changed the process for Round 3 of the All India 15% Quota Medical and Dental Counseling. The MCC released a new notification on its official website on Sunday, stating that the choice-filling deadline has now been extended to 11:59 pm today, Monday.

The process was originally scheduled to be completed by Sunday evening, but due to the addition of new MBBS seats, the committee has decided to give students additional time. Consequently, the seat allocation results, which were originally scheduled to be released on Saturday, will now be delayed.

Thousands of students remain waiting for Round 3 seat allocation

According to the MCC’s revised schedule, the Round 3 seat allocation results were to be released on Saturday. However, students continued to wait for the results until late into the night, with no official update received until Sunday morning.

Thousands of medical aspirants across the country repeatedly logged into the MCC portal to check their results, but the portal only displayed the message, “Seat allocation process ongoing.”

Many students expressed their disappointment on social media platforms, saying the frequent date extensions were disrupting their preparation and document verification plans.

MCC Releases New Notice on Website

On Sunday, a new notification was posted on MCC’s official website, www.mcc.nic.in. The notification stated that new MBBS seats have been added to various medical colleges across the country, giving candidates another opportunity to update their choices.

Education expert stated that this step was taken in the best interests of students. He said, “MCC has taken this decision to provide equal opportunity to all students to fill their choices after the addition of new seats. This will benefit many students and allow them to choose better college options.”

Relief due to the addition of new seats

According to a recent notification issued by the MCC, a total of 125 new MBBS seats have been added to the Round 3 process. These seats have been added to various government and private medical colleges across the country.

These include:

  • Guru Govind Singh Medical College, Faridkot (Punjab) – 8 seats
  • Y. Patil University, Pune (Maharashtra) – 50 seats
  • ESIC Medical College, Kolkata (West Bengal) – 17 seats
  • Vels Medical College, Tamil Nadu – 50 seats

With the addition of these new seats, many students who were disappointed by not getting a seat will now have another chance.

Seat Allocation Results Delayed

Since the MCC has extended the choice-filling deadline, the seat allocation results will no longer be released on the scheduled date. Originally scheduled to be announced on October 12th, the results will now be delayed by a few days.

According to , “Now that new seats have been added and the choice-filling process has been extended, MCC will definitely need time to process the data. Therefore, the results may be released around October 15th or 16th.”

He also stated that the previously scheduled reporting and joining dates (October 13th to 21st) will now be postponed. MCC will release a revised schedule for this soon.

Advice to Students: Update Choices Quickly

Education experts have advised all candidates to avoid last-minute rush and complete their choice-filling before 11:59 pm tonight.

Also, if new seats have been added to any colleges, they should be included in the list according to their priority.

Students can change their choices by logging into the MCC portal and must review all selected colleges before locking.

The Role of the MCC and the Importance of the All India Quota

The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) conducts online counseling for MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses across the country for 15% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

This provides for admission to seats in government and private medical colleges through a transparent and centralized process.

MCC counseling is conducted in four rounds—Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (also known as the mop-up round), and the stray vacancy round. After each round, the remaining seats are added to the next round to ensure no seats remain vacant.

What’s Next?

Now that the choice-filling deadline has been extended to tonight, the MCC is expected to release a revised schedule in the next few days.

The new dates will also clarify the deadlines for seat allocation, reporting, and joining.

According to experts, students should prepare all their necessary documents in the meantime, such as:

  • Admit Card and Rank Letter
  • NEET UG Score Card
  • Class 10 and 12 Marksheets
  • Identity Card (Aadhaar Card/PAN Card)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)

With these documents, students will be ready to report immediately upon seat allocation.

The MCC’s decision to extend the choice-filling deadline is certainly in the best interest of students. The addition of 125 new MBBS seats will provide more students with the opportunity to gain admission to quality medical colleges.

Although there will be a slight delay in the seat allocation results, this step will make the counseling process more transparent and fair.

Students have the opportunity to finalize their choices today.
