  1. Errors in Personal Information

The most common mistake is when filling out personal details. Small errors in information such as name, date of birth, parents’ names, and gender can become a major problem during document verification.

Students often fail to match their 10th-grade marksheet or official identity card while filling out the application form. This results in discrepancies in information.

How to Avoid:

When filling out the form, ensure all details match those in official documents. Avoid haste.

  1. Selecting the Wrong Category or Domicile

Selecting the reservation category and domicile plays a crucial role in the admission process. Many students choose categories like OBC-NCL or EWS without fully understanding their eligibility, or upload incorrect certificates. This can directly impact counseling and seat allocation.

How to Avoid:

Carefully read the official information bulletin before selecting a category. Do not make decisions based on social media or friends’ advice.

  1. Negligence in Uploading Photo and Signature

Uploading a live photo is mandatory in the NEET UG 2026 application process. Despite this, thousands of applications are stuck every year due to blurred photos, incorrect backgrounds, file sizes different from the prescribed ones, or incorrect formatting. Failure to follow the guidelines while uploading signatures and thumbprints also leads to problems.

How to Avoid:

Carefully read the criteria set by NTA before uploading photos and documents. Prepare all files in advance and check the preview after uploading.

  1. Waiting for the Deadline

Many students postpone application and fee payment until the last day. Due to heavy traffic or technical issues on the website at the last minute, payments may remain incomplete. Sometimes, even if the payment fails, students assume the form has been submitted successfully.

How to Avoid:

Complete the application process well before the deadline. After paying the fee, be sure to check its status on the portal.

  1. Not Downloading the Confirmation Page

The confirmation page that appears after submitting the form is a crucial document for future reference. Many students fail to download or save it, which can lead to problems later on.

How to Avoid:

Download the confirmation page immediately after submitting the form and keep a printout.

  1. Relying on Unofficial Sources

In the digital age, misinformation spreads rapidly through social media, WhatsApp messages, and YouTube videos. Many students rely on these sources instead of the official website, leading to confusion and errors.

How to Avoid:

Rely only on the official website of the National Testing Agency and information from reputable educational institutions.
