NIT Admission: Know Why There is Less Difference in the Cut Off of All India & State Quota

In Other States of the Country, The Difference Between Two Categories is Very High

Rajasthan has a talent pool of students. Here, more students appear in engineering entrance exams than other states. These students are also more talented than other states This has been proved once again. Recently, after completion of five rounds of Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling, the cut off of All India (other state) quota and state quota was released for admission in NIT. In comparison to other states of the country, the difference between these two cutoffs is the least in Rajasthan.

In Rajasthan, the difference between the cutoff of admission in All India and State quota is of 500 to 1000 All India rank, whereas when we look at the situation of other states of the country, this difference is from 10 thousand to several lakhs.

For example, in NIT-Mizoram, 7 lakh 12 thousand 487 students got admission in Computer Science through state quota, while 33 thousand 181 students got admission in All India quota.

Now in Rajasthan, 5435 rank student got admission in Computer Science through state quota in MNIT Jaipur, while the cutoff rank of other state quota was 4711. In Rajasthan, this difference is of 724 ranks, while in Mizoram this difference is of 6 lakh 76 thousand 306 ranks.

It is worth mentioning that this year admission is being given on 24 thousand 219 seats in 32 NITs of the country through JEE Main.

This year, compared to the last five years, the highest number of 14 lakh 15 thousand 110 students appeared in the examination. More than 2 lakh students participated in the joint counseling of NIT and IIIT-JoSAA.

Admission System in NIT

Admission in NIT is given through home state and all India quota. States reserve 50 percent seats in their respective NITs for admission of students of all India quota.

Apart from this, students applying in home state quota are given admission on the remaining 50 percent seats. These are the students who appear in the 12th examination from the respective state or pass it from there.

Know Where the Competition was Less & Where High!

NIT Jaipur is the only NIT among all the 32 NITs of the country where the difference in rank in admission in any branch from home state quota and all India quota is the least.

The main reason for this is that the number of students taking 12th examination from Rajasthan is more than other states. Along with this, these students are also talented.

In such a situation, competition increases a lot in getting a branch in state quota. Another reason is that students from all over the country come to Rajasthan, specially Kota, to make a career in medical and engineering.

They take board exams from here. In such a situation, competition increases among good students. Due to this, getting admission in NIT Jaipur through home state quota becomes more difficult as compared to other NITs.

On the contrary, there are many states where admission in home state quota is very easy on the basis of class 12th, in these states, it is easy to get admission in home state quota in North East states like Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim as well as Andhra, Arunachal, Agartala, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Puducherry, Assam etc. because the number of good students taking class 12th from here is less, due to which students with lower ranks also get admission following less competition.
