In 1 Case the Candidate Was Found Changed, While in 9 Cases There was use of Unfair Means
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made major preparations to control cheating and unfair means in various examinations. The measures taken by NTA to prevent cheating, by issuing a notification recently, have been implemented in JEE-Main session 2 and its effect was visible on the very first day on 4 April 2024.

NTA Nabs 10 Cases of Cheating in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Exam
On the very first day of JEE-Main 2024 April session examinations on Thursday, NTA, with the help of technology, caught 10 cases of cheating. In one case, the candidate was found to have changed, while in 9 other cases, use of unfair means was found. In this regard, NTA issued a notification after the examination on April 4.
According to NTA, this year the candidates are being identified through Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this, the photo of the student on the admit card and the photo taken at the examination centre are being matched using I-Face.

NTA is Preparing to Conduct Transparent Examinations of 50 Lakh Candidates
According to another notification issued earlier by NTA, preparations are now being made to conduct a transparent examination for more than 50 lakh students. NTA is currently conducting CUET, the country’s biggest medical and engineering examination and the biggest entrance examination for central universities. Along with this, many recruitment examinations are also being conducted by NTA.
According to the notification, NTA is going to implement the mechanism, adopted to prevent malpractice and any kind of cheating, equally on all these examinations. Multiple verification, biometric, e-KYC, checking of students and various AI based tools have been used by NTA to conduct the examinations smoothly and transparently this year.
NTA has even sent flying squads to the examination centres for this. Even AI based control rooms have been created to control the examination.
NTA has clarified that the data at the time of taking the exam is being analyzed. During the examination, every activity of the student is being recorded through CCTV and AI tools. If any kind of doubt is found in the behaviour of those students during the examination, then their log will be studied after the examination and, after this, if the student is proved guilty of cheating or using unfair means, then action will be taken under the rules of Public Malpractice Act.
The student will be debarred from examination for this year and the coming year. Along with this, considering this matter as criminal, legal action will be taken. This year, for the first time, biometric testing is being done even at the time of going to and returning from the bio break during the examination.

More Aspirants Applied for JEE Main April Session than January Session
JEE-Main exams will be held till April 12. More students have applied for the April Session examination of JEE Main 2024 as compared to January Session. The number of applicants is 12 lakh 57 thousand. The result of the exam is likely to be released by April 20.
