Shepherd’s Son from Rajasthan to Become Village’s First Doctor

Gordhanram from Barmer’s Beriwala Tala village gets admission to AIIMS Deoghar

Gordhanram, son of a shepherd family from Beriwala Tala, a small village in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, will become a doctor at AIIMS. Gordhanram will be the village’s first doctor.

The story of ALLEN Kota student Gordhanram Bana, admitted to AIIMS Deoghar in Jharkhand after successfully clearing NEET-2025, is an example of struggle, perseverance, and self-confidence. Gordhanram achieved this success despite limited resources, a weak financial situation, illness, and the grief of his elder brother’s untimely death.

He secured an All India Rank of 4498 and an OBC Category Rank of 1720 in NEET 2025. Gordhanram Bana, a regular classroom student at Allen Career Institute, is currently studying in his first year of MBBS at AIIMS, Deoghar.

Gordhanram’s village has electricity, but the village is still dependent on rain for water. During the rainy season, tanks are filled, which meets the year’s water needs. Three years ago, he was allotted a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme), but his parents still live in huts due to their sheep and goat herding.

Gordhanram was a bright student from an early age. He passed the 10th grade from a government school with 77.50 percent marks and scored 93.60 percent in the 12th grade. Upon learning about the NEET exam from his school teachers, he began preparing on his own. Recognizing Gordhanram’s talent and his family’s financial difficulties, Allen Career Institute, Kota, fully waived his fees for both years.

Brother’s Death, Eye Problems

Gordhanram’s father, Kumbharam, and mother, Kaushal Devi, are illiterate. The family consists of four brothers. In 2021, the eldest brother, Bishnaram, had cleared the RAS Preliminary Examination and Main Examination, and was preparing for a posting. He died in a road accident. Gordhanram began preparing for NEET in 2021.

After his brother’s death, Gordhanram resolved to become a doctor and improve his family’s fortunes. During his studies, he developed eye problems. He experienced constant pain, itching, and watering. Doctors advised him against continuing his studies, but Gordhanram had no choice but to continue his studies.

His second, eldest brother, Manaram, has also passed the RAS Preliminary Examination and is preparing for the Main Examination. His third brother, Chainaram, after completing his B.Ed., is preparing for the SI examination. His parents understand the importance of education and are educating their children through whatever means necessary.

Success after four attempts

In 2022, Gordhanram took the NEET exam for the first time, preparing on his own but scored only 328 marks. He then took the exam in 2023, again through self-study, and secured 465 marks. He felt he could achieve better results by going to Kota, so he chose Kota on the advice of his teachers.

Allen Career Institute waived his fees considering his talent and family’s difficult circumstances. He scored 600 marks in the NEET-UG in 2024 and 575 marks in 2025. He got admitted to AIIMS, Deoghar, where he is currently pursuing his first-year MBBS.

Allen changed my life, gave direction to my dreams, instilled confidence, and helped me reach a destination where expectations were low. My entire family and I express our heartfelt gratitude to Allen.

With Allen’s support, guidance, and continued hard work, I was able to fulfill my dream. My resolve is to become a good doctor and selflessly help people through my knowledge and spirit of service. – Gordhanram Bana

Gordhanram is an example of social change

Allen is always ready to support students. Our goal is that no student’s education should be left incomplete due to lack of money. Students like Gordhanram are an example not just for one family but for the entire society and village. It is they who inspire children in villages and bring about social change. – Naveen Maheshwari, Director, ALLEN Career Institute, Kota
