Vedansh Garg’s JEE Journey: Kota Preparation, Discipline & Success Mantra

Vedansh Garg has Secured AIR-13 in JEE Advanced 2025

Lakhs of students from across the country strive for success in the JEE exam every year, but only a few of them are able to reach their goal. One of them is Vedansh Garg, who secured All India Rank 35 in JEE Main 2025 and Top 20 in JEE Advanced.

Vedansh, a resident of Meerut, made his and his family’s dreams come true after two years of hard preparation in Kota. Know his inspirational story, preparation strategy, routine, and the role of Kota in this blog.

Decision to Come to Kota and Initial Struggle

Vedansh belongs to an education-oriented business family. His father is an engineer and a businessman running colleges. After class tenth, when he heard about Kota from a friend, he decided that Kota was the best place to prepare for JEE.

In the initial days, Vedansh faced difficulties because he came without any prior preparation, while his classmates had already studied many subjects. But he did not give up. His mantra was – “The homework you have got today should be your first priority.”

Environment and method of study at ALLEN Kota

Vedansh found a great peer group at Allen Career Institute, Kota, in which there was an atmosphere of healthy competition and mutual help. He told that along with learning in the classroom, test analysis was most important.

He said, “Instead of marks, it is important that the question which did not appear in the paper today, should appear tomorrow.”

Quality and balance in studies

Vedansh believes that ‘efficient study’ is more important than studying for hours. If you are studying for 4 hours, then it should be with 100% focus and intensity.

He also ensured to play table tennis for 1 hour every day, chat with friends and get enough sleep to keep himself balanced. “8 hours of sleep and staying away from social media helped me improve the quality of my studies,” said Vedansh.

Daily Routine: Discipline is the Key to Success

    • Waking up at 7:00 am
    • Class from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
    • Self-study from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm (with timer in classroom)
    • One hour of sports after dinner
    • Calls from family
    • Then sleep (at least 8 hours of sleep)

Syllabus Management and Backlog Strategy

He said that even if there is a backlog, first complete the daily homework. Cover the backlog on holidays and make an ‘error book’, which contains silly mistakes and test analysis notes.

His focus was always on understanding the topic and test analysis. “A mistake should never be repeated,” was his study philosophy.

Test Practice and Paper Solving Strategy

Vedansh took every mock test and major test of Allen and never backed out from a test. According to him, “If you feel scared then you must definitely give the test. Because the day JEE Advanced is here, you will feel scared too.”

He always started the paper with Chemistry, then Maths and finally Physics. His focus was on bringing consistency in paper order and improving time management.

JEE Main and JEE Advanced: Difference in Papers

JEE Main: Simple, NCERT based. Chemistry is completely from NCERT, Physics is also light, Maths is analytical.

JEE Advanced: Deep conceptual and time consuming, Physics was difficult especially in Paper-2.

Mental health and family support

Vedansh used to call home every night and he says that the emotional support of his parents was crucial to his success. His parents never forced him to study, but wisely gave him space.

“If you don’t feel like studying, take rest – this is what parents used to say,” says Vedansh.

Importance of health and diet

Vedansh believes that it is better to take a day off and start with a fresh mind rather than studying while being sick. To stay healthy, he made a regular routine and balanced diet his priority.

Learning from Kota

Vedansh considers Kota a “city of education”, where if you look for it, you will definitely find an environment for studying. His final message is:

“Follow the teachers blindly, whatever material is there in Allen is enough. Study with quality, give equal importance to sports and sleep and complete your daily work daily.”

Final message

Vedansh Garg’s success story is inspiring for every student who is preparing for a tough exam like JEE. Discipline, regularity, test practice, right guidance and mental balance – this was the key to Vedansh’s victory.

If you are also preparing for JEE, then you can also be successful like Vedansh – all you need is the right direction, hard work and confidence.
