Vatsalya Training Sessions to Empower Mothers in Kota

Empowering Mothers Through Vatsalya Training Sessions

Under the Kota Cares initiative, ALLEN Sanishth is organizing Vatsalya Training Sessions across its different campuses in Kota to empower mothers residing in the city with their children (coaching students). These sessions aim to provide mothers with psychological, academic, and fitness training, enabling them to back their children effectively as they prepare for competitive exams.

This initiative addresses the unique challenges mothers face while living away from their families, ensuring they stay emotionally strong and physically healthy to guide their children through the highs and lows of their academic journey.

A Holistic Approach to Supporting Mothers in Kota

Kota, known as India’s coaching hub, currently hosts around 10,000 mothers accompanying their children. These mothers play a crucial role in providing emotional support and comfort to their wards. However, the pressure to help their children succeed, together with being away from their families, often leaves them anxious and overwhelmed.

In the last 30 days, 1,130 mothers from different parts of the country have attended two Vatsalya Training Sessions each. According to experts, 10% of students in Kota live with their mothers, and this figure is now expected to rise to 15% following recent disheartening events involving students.

Notably, these sessions are open to all mothers of students in Kota, regardless of the coaching institute their children are enrolled in, reflecting the inclusivity of the Kota Cares initiative.

Three Phases of Support: A Guide for Mothers in Kota

According to project head and wellness expert Dr. Himanshu Sharma, every student in Kota goes through three key phases during their academic cycle. The training sessions guide mothers to adopt distinct roles at home: mother, friend, and guide, instead of unintentionally acting as teachers, which can add undue pressure on both themselves and their children.

  1. Mother:

Phase 1: First three months

Role: Mothers are trained to focus on nurturing, providing emotional comfort, and creating a positive home environment. They should nourish, feed, and ensure the student gets adequate rest after returning home. Building trust during this phase helps solve 50% of the problem.

  1. Friend:

Phase 2: Middle three months

Role:  Mothers are encouraged to act as a friend by fostering open communication, closely observing their children’s activities, and supporting emotionally to make them mentally strong.

  1. Guide:

Phase 3: Last three months

Role: Mothers are trained to act as a guide by encouraging disciplined study habits, offering reassurance, and maintaining a calm, supportive atmosphere. The focus is on helping students stay focused and confident during the most critical phase of preparation.

The Door Knock Project: Bringing Vatsalya to Every Mother in Kota

To ensure that all mothers in Kota have access to these training sessions, the Door Knock Project has been launched as part of Vatsalya. A team of 26 experts, including psychologists, counsellors, and fitness trainers, visits mothers in their homes, ensuring they receive the guidance they need through these training sessions.

The Driving Force Behind ‘Vatsalya Training Sessions’

The program addresses a common challenge identified during counselling of students: many mothers while trying to help their children, unknowingly take on the role of a teacher. This often creates unnecessary pressure on both sides. Vatsalya helps mothers understand the importance of balancing their roles effectively, fostering a stress-free, supportive environment at home.

By focusing on the complete well-being of both students and their mothers, Vatsalya Training Sessions under the Kota Cares initiative, organized by ALLEN Sanishth at its various campuses, are redefining the support system in Kota. This program emphasizes the creation of a nurturing environment where both students and their families can succeed.
