The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a Public Notice on 16 December 2020 inviting online applications for JEE Main 2021.
The online registration process started on December 16 and will continue till January 16, giving interested applications a month to complete their application, while the last day to submit the fees online is January 17.
The Major Changes in JEE Main 2021
JEE Main will be conducted in 13 languages including English and Hindi for the first time, to give opportunities to students from regional language backgrounds. The regional languages will include Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, and Assamese.
JEE Main 2021 will be conducted in multiple sessions in February, March, April, and May. The first of the four attempts will be conducted between February 23 and February 26. This new format of the exam will help reduce the odds of JEE Main clashing with other competitive and board examinations. It will also give various opportunities to JEE aspirants to improve their score if they are not able to perform their best in one attempt. Interested candidates will be given one week window to apply for the following month’s attempt. The result of every attempt will be announced within five days.
JEE Main 2021 Exam Schedule
The first of the four attempts allowed in JEE Main in 2021 will be conducted between February 23 and February 26. The next sessions will take place between March 15 to 18, then April 27 to 30, and May 24 to 28.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts, the morning shift will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, and the afternoon shift will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm.

New Paper Pattern of JEE Main
There is no change in the syllabus, it will be the same as the previous year. But the question paper will contain 90 questions, in which the candidate will have to attempt a total of 75 questions. Students will be given the choice of answering 75 questions (25 each in physics, chemistry, and mathematics) out of 90 questions (30 each in physics, chemistry, and mathematics).
Each subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and Section B will contain Questions that are to be answered in a Numerical Value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. The choice will be given in Section B only, and there will be no negative marking for this section.

Mode Of Examination
JEE Main 2021 Examination will be conducted in “Computer Based Test” (CBT) Mode only, except that the Drawing Test for B.Arch. will be held in “Pen & Paper” (Offline) Mode, to be attempted on A4 size drawing sheet.
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), Paper 2A (B. Arch.): Mathematics – Part I, Aptitude Test – Part II will be conducted in CBT Mode. Paper 2A (B. Arch.): Drawing Test – Part III will be conducted in Offline Mode. Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics – Part I, Aptitude Test – Part II, Planning Based Questions – Part III will also be conducted in CBT Mode.
Fee Deposition For JEE Main 2021
Fees for all four sessions can be paid at the same time. However, it can be taken forward to another session. In case a candidate does not want to appear in the session for which the fee has already been paid, it will be refunded by NTA, provided the request is received during the application process of the session from which the candidate wants to withdraw.
The application window will re-open shortly after the declaration of the result of the February/ March & April Session.

Candidates should note that NTA will not entertain any edit/ modification of any information entered by the candidates after the completion of the application process. Hence the application form must be filled with the utmost caution.
Candidates would not have to appear in all four sessions. But if they decide to appear in more than one session, then the best of their NTA scores will be considered for their All India Ranking.
