JEE Main April Session Exam Starts, Paper Level Same as January Session

The April Session of JEE-Main, began on Thursday.

On the first day of JEE Main April Session Exam, two examination centers in Kota City, Shiv Jyoti International School, Ranpur, and Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Mission, Jhalawar Road, conducted the examination on computer-based mode.

Allen Career Institute Director Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari Sir said that on the basis of students’ feedback and responses received on CSAT, it can be said that the first day’s paper was normal. In none of the three subjects, the students faced any particular problem.

There was no change in the paper pattern either. The paper for the April session is similar to that of the January session. In each subject, 20 questions were of single correct objective and 10 numerical value. Only 5 out of 10 numerical value questions were to be attempted. Out of which 2-3 were Assertion-Reasoning (Assertion and Reason). About 40 percent questions were asked from class 11 and about 60 percent from class 12.

Physics

The level of the morning shift paper was normal to average. In this paper, equal number of questions were asked from class 11th and 12th. 3-4 questions were asked from Assertion Reason. 6-7 questions were asked from Mechanics. One question was asked from Sound Wave. Similarly, there were two-three questions from Heat and Thermo. One question each came from Electricity, MEC, EMI and AC. 3-4 questions were asked from Modern Physics.  Questions were asked on de-excitation of atom in Bohr model.

The question came on the logic gate on semi conductor. The level of the paper was average in the evening shift. The significant aspect is that the paper was conceptual. Statement-based, Assertion-Reason type questions were more than five in number. Norm from the point of view of calculation. One question each was asked from Collision, Moment of Inertia.  One question each was asked from Electrical Instrument and Galvanometer. One question each was asked from Capacitance, MEC, EMI, and AC. The question came on the speed of sound from the sound wave. Three-four questions were asked from Modern Physics.

Chemistry

The level of the paper was easy in the morning shift. In which two-three questions were asked from the statement and match column. In Inorganic Chemistry, questions were asked from Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination Chemistry, Metallurgy, S, D and F Block and Environmental Chemistry. In Organic Chemistry, mix questions were asked from IUPAC nomenclature, GOC, Isomerism, Reduction and Reagent. Similarly, two questions related to match column and polymer were asked from Biomolecule. In Physical Chemistry, questions related to mole concept (two questions), redox (two questions), chemical kinetics, thermodynamic (two questions), electrochemistry, liquid solution, atomic structure and surface chemistry were asked. Most of the questions in Physical Chemistry were numerical.

The paper was easy in the evening shift.  In which there were questions related to statement match column and coding. Naming of Coordination Compound in Inorganic Chemistry, Statement Type Questions on Metal Carbonyl, Compounds of Square Planar Structure in Chemical Bonding, Number of H-Bonding in H2O, Reaction related to Brine Solution in S-Block, Which of the following element is not available in Nessler reagent and questions related to formation of complex of Pb plus 2 ions were asked.

In Organic Chemistry questions related to match column coding of amino acids, pairing of pesticides, synthesis of amines, iodoform test from gabriel phthalimide acid strength of phenol and its derivatives were asked. In physical chemistry, equivalence point of acid-base reaction, reaction medium of KMnO+N2O3 to form Mn+4, D+HO electrochemistry of C2H5O, how many metals can be oxidised by N2O3. In Numerical, Ra Equilibrium number was asked in equilibrium. Liquid solution was numerical of how many solutions have the same osmolarity.

Maths

The morning shift paper was moderate and long. Questions were asked from almost all the topics. 8-9 questions were asked from Calculus. In Calculus, questions were asked from Differential, Area under Curve, Tangent and Normal, Continuity and Differentiability, Definite and Indefinite Integration. Similarly, 9-10 questions were asked from Algebra in which questions were asked covering the topics of Binomial, P&C, Probability, Determinant Matrix, Quadratic Equation, Sequence and Series and Logarithm. Five questions were asked from Vector 3D. Three questions were asked from Co-ordinate Geometry.  In which mix questions were asked from straight line, circle and conic section. One question each was asked from Statistics and Reasoning. Two questions were asked from JEE Mains topics.  Which were related to Height and Distance and Relation topic.

The evening shift paper was moderate and long. Questions were asked from almost all the topics. Eight questions were asked from Calculus in which questions were asked from Function, Limit, Differentiation, Application of Derivative, Definite Integration, Differential Equation, Area under Curve topics. Four-five questions were asked from Vector 3D.

Four-five questions were asked from Coordinate Geometry. In which mix questions were asked from circle and conic section. 8-9 questions were asked from Algebra which were from Sequence Series, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Binomial Theorem, Complex Number, Determinant and Matrix topics. In Trigonometry there was one question from Compound Angle. One question each was asked from Statistics and Reasoning. There one question was asked from set theory.
