Know the Tie-Breaking Formula for JEE Main 2024

Tie-Breaking Formula is Different for JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 and Paper 2

The first session of JEE Main 2024 has concluded recently with the declaration of the results. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) was held on 27, 29, 30, and 31 January while Paper 2 (B.arch./B.Planning) was held on 24 January. JEE Main 2024 Session 1 results were announced on 12 February. Now JEE Main 2024 Session 2 (April Session) will be held in April month from 4 April to 15 April.

In JEE Main 2024, candidate’s raw scores are converted into NTA scores. In case two candidates obtain equal NTA scores, then tie-breaking method will be used to resolve the tie. Tie-Breaking formula for JEE Main 2024 is different for Paper 1 an Paper 2 but similar for both sessions.

Tie-Breaking Formula for JEE Main 2024 Paper-1

Tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in Paper 1: B.E./B.Tech will be resolved in the following manner in descending order:

  1. NTA score in Mathematics, followed by
  2. NTA score in Physics, followed by
  3. NTA score in Chemistry, followed by
  4. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test, followed by
  5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics in the Test, followed by
  6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by
  7. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test followed by
  8. Older in Age followed by
  9. Application Number in ascending order

Tie-Breaking Formula for JEE Main 2024 Paper-2

The tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in Paper 2A: B. Arch will be resolved in the following manner:

  1. NTA score in Mathematics, followed by
  2. NTA score in Aptitude Test, followed by
  3. NTA score in Drawing Test, followed by
  4. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test, followed by
  5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics (Part-I) in the Test, followed by
  6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Aptitude Test (Part-II) in the Test followed by
  7. Older in Age followed by
  8. Application Number in ascending order
