Aspirants to get 3495 more seats in Medical colleges this year

NEET 2022 will spell happiness for the aspirants as now more aspirants will get seats in the medical colleges this year. The addition of more seats in new medical colleges and equating fees of 50% seats in private medical colleges with the fees of the government medical college seats will add to the cheer of the students. Here’s Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari, Co-Founder Director, Allen Career Institute disseminating significant information about NEET 2022.

NEET 2022 – 3495 more seats in Medical Colleges

There is good news for the aspirants of NEET 2022. As informed by the National Medical Commission, there are 612 medical colleges in the country with 91927 seats. Under the centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) for ‘Up-gradation of government medical colleges for an increase of MBBS seats in existing medical colleges, 3495 MBBS seats have been approved in 16 States/UTs.

The government has taken several steps to increase the availability of undergraduate and postgraduate seats in the medical seats. CSS for the establishment of new medical colleges by upgrading district/referral hospitals has led to the approval of 157 new medical colleges of which 72 are functional. CSS for upgradation of government medical colleges by the construction of super-specialty blocks includes a total of 75 projects which have been approved. While under the central sector scheme for setting up of new AIIMS, 22 AIIMS have been approved of which undergraduate courses have started in 19 AIIMS.

Union govt to equate fees of 50% MBBS seats of private colleges with the fees of government medical college seats

There is more good news for the students to cherish as the union government has announced to reduce the fees of 50% MBBS seats of the private medical college to the fees of MBBS seats of the government medical college which means that students of the middle class and financially weak students will get admission on the seats of the private medical colleges also. This would add more seats for the NEET aspirants.

While the total fees of the seats of private medical colleges are in tune of around Rs 1 Crore for the entire five-and-a-half- year MBBS course, the fees of the MBBS seats in government colleges are around Rs 3-to-5 lakhs for the entire term of MBBS studies. So now the students will be able to get admission on the MBBS seats of the private medical college in fees worth Rs 3-to-5 lakhs. Those aspirants of NEET 2022, who have studied in full throttle round the year, will certainly get an MBBS seat this year due to the addition of more MBBS seats this year.

Students with 35000 AIR Rank may also get medical college seats this year

Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari said that the aspirants with AIR-15000 got government medical college MBBS seats, after the last round of counseling, in the NEET 2020, and aspirants with AIR-21000 got admission on the MBBS seats of the government medical colleges in the NEET-2021 till the last round of counseling. The aspirants with AIR-35000 are likely to get an MBBS seat in the government medical colleges this year due to an increase in the MBBS seats in the government medical colleges of the country.

Also, the cut-off marks for General, OBC, and EWS in the NEET-2021 were around 595 marks which are expected to drop down to 585 (with a margin of +-5 marks) marks in NEET-2022.
