NEET-UG 2024 Registration Crosses 25 Lakh Mark for The First Time Ever

The registration deadline for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2024), conducted by the National Testing Agency, is extended till 16 March 2024, and a significant number of students are continuously applying. Remarkably, the number of students registering for NEET-UG this year has crossed over 25 Lakh.

Career counseling expert Parizat Mishra from ALLEN Career Institute revealed that over 25 Lakh students have applied for the upcoming NEET UG examination scheduled for May 5th, which is nearly 4.20 Lakh more than last year.

ASAT-2024

Speaking about the ratio of students in medical sciences, more than 55% of applications have been made by female candidates, with approximately more than 1.3 Lakh applications from female students. This examination, which encompasses around 200,000 seats, includes approximately 109,000 MBBS seats, 26,000 dental seats, as well as seats in various other medical fields like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Veterinary Science, and Nursing.

Even on the last day, a significant number of students are registering, and demands to extend the deadline are being made due to various issues such as non-linkage of Aadhar cards and mobile numbers. Some students are unable to apply due to discrepancies in linking their old numbers with Aadhar cards. Although the second option is the PAN card, many students do not have one, which is also leading to demands for an extension of the deadline.

Compared with previous years, registrations were as follows: 717,127 in 2013, 579,707 in 2014, 374,386 in 2015, 802,594 in 2016, 1,138,890 in 2017, 1,326,725 in 2018, 1,519,375 in 2019, 1,597,435 in 2020, 1,614,777 in 2021, 1,872,343 in 2022, and 2,087,462 in 2023.
