JEE Main 2024 (Session 2) Exam was Held in 2 Shifts on Saturday

ALLEN JEE Main Session 2 Paper Analysis

The first session of the country’s largest Engineering Entrance Exam JEE Main 2024 Session 2 for admission to BE-BTech courses started on Thursday. The exam was conducted in Computer Based Mode.

ASAT-2024

Based on the feedback of the students and the feedback received on ALLEN Digital, the paper was based on NCERT syllabus. The paper was normal to moderate.

Chemistry

The chemistry paper in the morning session was easy. Section 1 consisted of statement and true/false type questions. Similarly, in Section 2, most questions were from physical chemistry. Questions were asked from periodic properties, coordination chemistry, salt analysis, and the F block.

Additionally, one question each was asked from chemical bonding, isomerism, organic compound reactions, biomolecules, aromatic compounds, purification, hydrocarbons, and carbonyl compounds.

Questions were also mixed with oxidation-reduction reactions, concentration terms, redox reactions, atomic structure, liquid solutions, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, thermodynamics, ionic equilibrium, and electrochemistry.

The evening session’s chemistry paper was also easy. Section 1 had statement and true/false type questions, while Section 2 mostly focused on physical chemistry. Topics included chemical bonding, the S block, coordination chemistry, salt analysis, and the D block.

Furthermore, questions were asked on organic compound reactions, biomolecules, purification, oxidation-reduction reactions, aromatic compounds, concentration terms, redox reactions, ideal gas, atomic structure, liquid solutions, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, and thermodynamics.

Maths

According to student feedback, the morning session’s mathematics paper was of a moderate level. Calculations were quite lengthy. Questions were asked from algebra on sequences and series, quadratic equations, binomial theorem, probability, and matrices.

In calculus, questions were from functions, inverse trigonometry, limits, methods of differentiation, differential equations, area under the curve, and integration. Two questions were asked from vectors and 3D geometry.

A question from coordinate geometry was on conic sections (parabola). Similarly, one question each was asked from statistics and relation theory.

The evening session’s mathematics paper was of a moderate level as well. Calculations remained lengthy. Questions were asked from algebra on quadratic equations, sequences and series, complex numbers, binomial theorem, probability, sets, and determinants.

In calculus, questions were from functions, limits, differential equations, area under the curve, indefinite and definite integrals, and applications of derivatives. Two questions were asked from vectors and 3D geometry. In coordinate geometry, questions were on circles and straight lines.

A question was asked from the solution of triangles and geometry as well. One question each was asked from statistics, relation theory, and sets theory.

Physics

According to student feedback, the morning session’s physics paper was easy. A question on vector from the class 11 syllabus, and match the following type questions from units and dimensions were asked.

Two questions were asked on Newton’s laws of motion, one of which was based on pulleys and the other on resistive forces. Questions were also asked from kinematics, work-power-energy, change in kinetic energy, momentum from center of mass chapter, and angular momentum conservation from rotational mechanics.

One question each was asked from kinetic theory of gases on speed distribution and on thermodynamics process-based real gases. A question from fluid mechanics was related to surface energy. A question on SHM was based on the equation of SHM.

An error topic and a question based on screw gauge in instruments were also asked. A question on escape speed was asked from the gravitation chapter. From class 12 syllabus, one question was asked on geometrical optics on prism, one question on electrostatics on Coulomb’s law, and one question from current electricity on Wheatstone bridge and another question based on resistance.

A question from magnetic effect of current was asked, and two questions from alternating current were asked, both based on LCR circuits. One question from wave optics was based on match the following pattern, and from modern physics, one question on photoelectric effect and another question from semiconductor was based on truth table.

According to student feedback, the evening session’s physics paper was easy as well. One to two questions were statement-based and match the following type questions. From class 11 syllabus, a statement-based question was asked from units and dimensions, a question was asked on screw gauge in instruments, and two questions were asked from Newton’s laws of motion, one of which was related to tension in a string.

Two questions were asked from kinematics 1D as well. A question from circular motion was asked on banking of roads. One question from center of mass chapter was asked on momentum. A question from rotational mechanics was asked on moment of inertia. A question from thermodynamics was asked on the first law of thermodynamics. From fluid mechanics, a question on surface tension was asked.

A question from gravitation was asked on variation of gravitational field. From class 12 syllabus, two questions were asked from geometrical optics, one of which was based on lens maker formula and the other was experiment-based. A question from electrostatics was asked on Coulomb’s law. A question was asked from current electricity based on circuits. A question from capacitors was asked on dielectric. A question from magnetic effect of current was asked. A question from electromagnetic induction was asked on self-inductance. One question from EM wave and two questions from modern physics were asked, one on stopping potential and the other on the outer model based on a truth table.
