Maths Paper Was The Longest in Both the Shifts
Monday was the third day of the JEE Main April Session 2023 exam, the country’s biggest engineering entrance exam being conducted by the National Testing Agency. On the basis of students’ feedback and responses received on CSAT, it can be said that the Mathematics paper on the third day confused the students a lot. It took a long time to solve the paper due to lengthy calculations and tricky questions. However, there was no change in the paper pattern as well.
Physics
The morning shift paper was easy. Equal coverage was given to all the topics. One question each was asked from NLM, Kinematics, Circular Motion, CoM Momentum and Collision. Questions were asked from Elasticity, Laws of Thermodynamics. Pascal’s law based question was asked from Fluid. One question each came from SHM and Wave of strings. Plane Mirror based question was asked in Ray Optics.
There were two questions in the paper from Gravitation which were based on orbital velocity and weight. Questions were asked on Current Electricity and Capacitance Equivalent R and C. Solenoid based question asked in MEC. Questions based on Motional EMF in EMI and Series LCR circuit in AC were asked. There was also a question from EM wave. Two-three questions also came from Modern Physics. Zener diode based question in Semi conductor. Amplitude Modulation based question was asked from Communication. Apart from this, there were one or two statement based questions.
The paper was easy in the second innings as well. The special thing was that there were four-five conceptual based questions. Almost equal number of questions were asked from class 11th and 12th. In error measurement question was asked from vernier caliper. Assertion reason based questions were asked from NLM. One question each was asked from Kinematics 1D, 2D. Questions were asked from WPE, Rotation and Elasticity. Questions related to degree of freedom, molar capacity and adiabatic process came from KTG and thermodynamics.
One question each came from Fluid and SHM. Lens based question was asked from Ray Optics. One question each from Electrostatic, Gravitation, Electricity, Capacitance, EMI, String Wave, EM Wave, Wave Optics. Two-three questions came from Modern Physics. The question was asked from Diode based circuit in Semi conductor. There was a question on bandwidth (modulation) from communication.

Chemistry
The paper was of moderate level in the morning shift. Except few informative questions in Inorganic Chemistry, the rest of the paper was easy. Almost all the questions remained NCERT based. In Inorganic Chemistry, one question each came from Chemical Bonding Structure, Coordination Chemistry, S Block, D Block, Environmental Chemistry.
In Organic Chemistry, questions were asked covering Halogen Derivatives, Alcohol – Ether, Oxidation of Amines, Biomolecules and Polymer Chemistry. In physical chemistry, questions related to chemical equilibrium, mole concept, liquid solution, chemical kinetics, electrochemistry and surface chemistry were asked. Whereas in Physical Chemistry most of the questions were from numerical section.
The paper was of moderate level in the evening shift. In which moderate level questions were asked from almost all the chapters of Inorganic Chemistry. Some of it were based on NCERT syllabus. In Inorganic Chemistry, one question each from Quantum Number, Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Metallurgy, S Block, P Block, Hydrogen and Environmental Chemistry and two questions from Coordination Chemistry.
In Organic Chemistry, one question each came from Electron Displacement Effect, Acid Base, POC, Alcohol Ether, Hydrocarbon, Reduction, Aromatic Compound, Polymer and Chemistry in Everyday Life. In Physical Chemistry, one question each came from Mole, Concentration, Atomic Structure, Solid State, Liquid Solution, Kinetics, Electrochemistry and Surface Chemistry.

Maths
The morning shift paper was moderate and long. 10 questions came from Algebra. In which questions were asked from Quadratic, Logarithm, P & C, Probability, Binomial Theorem, Determinants, Metrics, Sequence & Series topics. Eight questions came from Calculus. In which Function, Continuity, AOD, Indefinite Integration, Differential Integration and Area Under Curve topics were covered. 3-4 questions were asked from Coordinate Geometry. In which mix questions of Circle, Parabola and Ellipse were asked. One question came from Vector 3D, 3-4 and Complex numbers. Talking about JEE Main topics, one question each was asked from Statistics and Reasoning.
In the evening shift as well, the paper was moderate as well as lengthy. Seven-to-eight questions were asked from Algebra. In which Quadratic, Sequence and Progression, P&C, Probability, Binomial Theorem, Metrics and Determinant Topipex were covered. Eight questions came from Calculus in which functions, inverse trigonometric functions, applications of derivatives, indefinite integration, definite integration, differential equations, and area under curve topics were covered.
There were four questions from Coordinate Geometry in which straight line, circle and conic section topics were covered. Four questions came from Vector & 3D. One question each was asked from Complex Numbers, Sets and Relations, Statistics, and Reasoning. One question also came from Height and Distance. Most of the questions were of long calculation.
